AIDS by 1989 was ravaging the LGBTQ+ community and the mass hysteria that followed was raging on. Almost 28,000 people died from HIV/AIDS in the USA.
I remember it was common for kids to bully others and say they “had AIDS” and not drink after them in the water fountain line.
