Gorillas demonstrate a high degree of self-awareness, recognizing themselves in a mirror, and often exhibiting compassion and grief.

Chimps are capable of both genuine altruism and advanced political/social coalition-building.

I’d trade either for the disgusting psychopath currently in charge.
Trump posts a flagrantly racist video showing the Obamas as apes.
We all have agency in the eyes of the law. And still, I prefer to see ICE's goons as useful idiots rather than pure villains.

They've been hired, armed, not trained and ordered to do illegal shit with a promise of immunity that nobody can grant.

The truly culpable are those organising this.
Mamdani: "I speak of Renee Good, whose final words to the man who murdered her were, 'I'm not mad at you.' I speak of Alex Pretti who died as he lived, caring for the stranger. ICE shot him bc he did something they could never fathom ... let us offer a new path: one of defiance through compassion."

It's not enough to condemn trump for the Obama video. He didn't create it, he can barely tie his shoes. The vile creatures around him create this shit because a. They think it's cool. And b. They're a complete representation of him: vile, vulgar, disgusting creatures.

"Donald Trump is a dissembling, ignorant bigot" is, sadly, no longer international news.
The US president indulges in horrific racism online. And the BBC report on this outrageous behaviour? I can’t see a word about it on their site. Am I missing it?

Trump isn’t going to the Winter Olympics in France. Since Russia isn’t allowed to participate, he wouldn’t have anyone to cheer for.

Trump was looking squarely at the UK when he claimed other countries would bear the costs of lower US drug prices.

So we did a deal. Our drug prices will rise by 4%. In exchange we will sell more drugs into the US (pharma is a major sector here).

Don't hold your breath for big price cuts.
Dr Oz on how Trump lowered drug prices: "If you look someone in the eyes and say, 'Listen, you're making 3 times more than you should off these drugs than anyone else on the planet. What gives?' You know what they say? 'We knew one day you'd come knocking.' All these companies did the right thing."

Every time I see this image some part of my heuristic brain thinks I'm seeing his embalmed corpse lying in state and I become giddy with excitement.

It's not a worthy thought but in my defence, embalmed dead Trump and make-up caked live Trump aren't biologically far apart.
No wonder he’s always sleepy.

For all I know there's a Rhoades Scholar in there, but I'm going to take a punt and suggest that everything about this chap's political worldview explains itself completely in the instant you clap eyes upon him.

As well they should be. The once hegemonic US auto sector is about to be swallowed whole by China.

It's not even Trump's fault, though he is hastening and intensifying the capitulation.

(Read "Apple in China" by Patrick McGhee to understand how one American corporation seeded China's EV sector.)

Harsh.

Lyrics like this make Kid Rock an ideal MAGA cultural icon.
Kid Rock’s 2001 song, “Cool, Daddy Cool,” which contains the lyrics, “Young ladies, young ladies, I like ’em underage, see some say that’s statutory (but I say that’s mandatory).”

Which moron booked Kid Rock for the MAGA family values concert in the middle of a pedophile news cycle? JD Vance?

If Sir Keir Starmer really is for the chop, can we put in some sort of record-breaking transfer bid for Pedro Sanchez, please?

Or Mark Carney. We'd definitely have him back.

AI in science fiction conforms to a consistent savant-like archetype: otherworldly, remorselessly factual and with a vast cache of in-built knowledge.

Kinda ironic that real AI is highly personable, doesn’t care about facts and forgets everything the moment you log off.

Very funny takedown of the ex-Prince Andrew. Michael Kosta (perhaps because he has better scriptwriters than I) missed the obvious joke: what the Royals call a “lodge” or a “cottage” merely donates somewhere on one of their estates that only has 20 or so bedrooms.

By the time this is done I expect the name “Trump” to experience a decline in cachet comparable to the slump in “Adolf” christenings in 1946 Germany.
AOC on the Kennedy Center: The renaming is completely illegitimate. All they did was screw some nameplates onto the building. That’s coming right off. Enjoy your name on there for a year or two, but that’s getting ripped right out.

The States' answer to this ought to be crystal clear: if you want to repair the system you need to demonstrate that it is broken. And how.

60 separate court cases examined each and every allegation of 2020 irregularities in exhaustive detail.

Not one such allegation was upheld.
February 6, 2026 at 12:38 PM
Sorry, but I don’t know this. And I can’t until and unless an actual court of law reaches an actual verdict to that effect.

I *suspect* Trump to be guilty. But right now there isn’t anyone who *knows* and who isn’t one of: Trump himself, a victim or a witness.

Watching the evangelicals pour hatred on a genuine Christian and exemplary family man, before falling at the feet of a vicious, godless, amoral, corrupt malignant narcissist has been one of the most instructive lessons in those types of adherents.
I never understood how people of faith could vote for this degenerate scumbag.

We can all see various irregularities in Trump’s health. We see him a lot. And he and his spokespeople are not being frank, which does not help.

But the medical pundits diagnosing him via TV should wind their necks in. That’s like trying to diagnose Tom Cruise by watching his movies.

Megyn Kelly having a pop at Kaitlan Collins is quite the thing. Kelly WAS a decent journalist once. Now she's a regime mouthpiece. And not even a top tier one at that.

Kaitlan Collins is a tough and extremely tenacious journalist. All this crap will just bounce off her.

A polite reminder that Steve Bannon codified the "flood the zone/own the libs" tactics to which most people and most of the media still has no effective response some 10 years on.
