I'm no expert, but I suspect autism, much like left-handedness, much being gay, much like being trans, and hell, much like "usage of the color blue" are all perfect examples of this.

Some because of increasing acceptance, some because of increasing awareness, but either or both ways:

"Pornography" is a dog-whistle, same as "DEI" and "woke" — a pretext for broad censorship and repression of issues related sex and gender.

Unfortunately, too many on the left take it at face value ... and distance themselves from fights. We need much broader awareness and our allies to fight back.
