My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

Life being stressful is not a mental illness, but it is a massive driver of mental and physical illness. Maybe, just maybe, if the Labour government is serious about reducing this, they should address the terrible environments that so many people have little choice but to endure.

Anyone else find it strange that 7 of the richest men on Earth aren't just billionaires, but also media barons?

Musk, Ellison, Bezos, Arnault, Brin, Page, Zuckerberg.

They own the feeds, papers, platforms and narratives that shape our reality and no one says a word.🚩

Imagine the homes we could build, the nurses we could hire, the energy we could generate with the money Brexit set on fire. Instead we argue about Farage’s latest insult while the country pays for his revolution. The bill arrives in every Budget. #faragetaxes.

Tommy Robinson is celebrating Labour policy. National socialists now provide the inspiration. Taking valuables from people fleeing persecution. How on earth did we sink so low that it could be considered, never mind floated as a policy #starmer #Labour #refugees

This is yet another example of how you beat the far right. By beating them, not trying to be them. By having your own agenda, not aping theirs. With courage and conviction - and humour - not fear and timidity.

Much as I dislike Rachel Reeves and would be happy to see her gone. Not for this, she is clearly not at fault here. Coincidentally, it all appears just after the suggestion that she may tax the more privileged a bit more.

Absolutely, the reality is the previous government no interest in solving the problem. They want the division, and if their donors can make a few quid from the misery, so much the better. Sadly labour seem to be following the same blueprint.
Costs of asylum accomodation are down to firms making vast profits off of providing poor quality for people seeking safety and Home Office cruelty and ineptitude. It is not the fault of those forced into using them by a system which doesn't give them a choice. #r4today
