It would be great if we could take a whole country and change the default speed limit to 20mph and then compare it to one left at 30mph. What if it reduced casualties by 25% and with lower risk reduced insurance premiums by £45 a year? Well it did! bit.ly/4gIBPlJ

Speed was a factor in over 60% of collisions in Enfield in last 5 yrs.

Great to see Enfield Council introducing new 20mph zones in Edmonton, Palmers Green & Southgate.

Crashes fall approx 40% after 20mph zones are introduced.

This will save lives!

Well done to all the brilliant local councillors who have lowered the speed limits their roads to 20mph - often in the face of much hostility.

There is now irrefutable evidence to show your bold decisions are saving lives.

Thank you!

My car insurance is 18% lower this year

Nothing has changed except the effect of the 20mph speed limit in Wales: fewer accidents, less cost, fewer injuries and lives lost

And practically speaking it doesn't cause noticeably slower journeys

A good policy

The government is currently drawing up National Highways’ next 5-year budget (RIS3).

This the perfect time to let them know how important it is that funding is prioritised to stop water pollution from road runoff.
Stop National Highways’ toxic water pollution!
We all know our rivers are polluted. However, it’s not just from sewage, or due to the inaction of failing water companies. What is less talked about, but in many ways worse than sewage and even more…

This letter from legal expert Robert Huxford endorses our position. Increasing a speed limit by 50% to 30mph is not a trivial change to be made at the whim of politicians to placate public opinion or win votes. Its has legal implications for the local authority, its councilors and its officers.

Aiming to improve safety, liveability and accessibility, 80% of the road network is now at this critical speed.🧵

It's amazing what evidence based policy can do.

The evidence that the 20mph limit is working fantastic from the point of view of saving lives and saving the taxpayer money in Wales is overwhelming.

You can be annoyed about it.

But you can't argue that it isn't doing what it was supposed to do.
