A 2023 study in London indicated that CO2 emissions were 36% to 39% higher for petrol vehicles travelling at 30 mph than at 20 mph, and NOx emissions were 79% higher for diesel vehicles doing 30 vs 20mph

Converting casualty costs, time savings and journey reliability into economic / financial impact is fraught. The problem is how to refute headlines like "20mph is costing zillions", without just saying "no it isn't". Two wrongs making a right???
