The kind of person voting for Trump over Kamala at large probably is attracted to the fact Trump makes his base feel strong and like the silent majority, and not their differentials on corporate taxes and willingness to compromise. Voters want to feel electrified, not parented.

It’s almost like the thing that actually swings independents is…the idea of someone doing something different when Americans feel abandoned at large. And maybe not whether they support trans people in sports. Maybe a candidate that says “fuck your boss” appeals more than the status quo?

Maybe a more electible option exists that appeals to both sides. Most of the lefty figures in govt are popular among centrists too. Markey, Bernie, Welch, Warren, Schatz, Beshear, AOC, they all have some of the highest approval ratings among Democrat voters, and more populist appeal.

Like your argument is leftists cost the election for Kamala for her not being far enough left…so we should appeal to them even less? Even though you claim they’re the bloc that cost you the election? I feel like…that doesn’t make any logical sense together.

I just saw someone argue that democrats can’t go further left because Kamala was the furthest left candidate they’ve run, and she lost…only to then argue that she would’ve won if it weren’t for far left third party voters, and like…do you not see a contradiction there?

We are barely beginning the process and you’re already going “just compromise already.” What if, and here’s a wild idea, we don’t have to yet? Because we have a whole menu of options right now and a year and a half for massive shifts in political perception?

People keep getting mad when leftists say they don’t like Newsom as a candidate and it’s like…it’s 2 and a half years before an election? Shouldn’t this be where we draw hard lines to figure out who moves people at large? There isn’t even a field, there is no election yet to lose.

Billie has the catalog but I do wonder if she’d do such a showy choreographed event, she seems to mostly reject the idea of it. She has the hits but I don’t think she’s ever done like…a set piece.

Ariana could do it but also I think that’s down to when she moves onto her next era, she’s still kind of in Wicked mode. They are not giving it to Kanye (don’t even try). Britney would be an incredible story but that’s up to her, she has every right to say no with her trauma.

Been trying to think of possible next halftime hosts, who is on that top artist level, with multiple albums of hits spanning several years, someone with a legacy…and also who hasn’t done it and is willing to do it still.
There’s a few that make sense…Bieber, Harry Styles…please not Morgan Wallen.

Though I probably would’ve picked the three nominated rap albums for the Grammy for album of the year over it, but that speaks to how good Let God Sort ‘Em Out, Chromakopia, and GNX are. Hell Sabrina’s isn’t far behind Bad Bunny either, some good choices this year.
