‪So take that same mentality and mix it with action sequences that are a lot higher budget with some occasional Wright-isms…yeah it’s his worst movie but it’s still pretty okay. Like Last Night in SoHo, I see the problems, but I also had a fun time when I let it be visceral.‬

It’s smarmy, yes. It’s obvious as fuck. It’s a dumbed down version of the book in some ways for sure.

But that also describes the 80s movie, and that one is also still an okay movie. That one wasn’t subtle, simplified itself, and once I accepted that, it was fun!

(I personally would argue Drive is a pretty good choice as it’s still my favorite of 2011, but also I still need to see The Tree of Life)

I still kinda think you guys have a better odds to win it all these few years than us, we’re young and ironing things out, the Bills seem like the more mature tested team. But also like…yeah you guys gotta finish the job soon.

Also we are united in primarily despising the Jets which really is the most important thing.

To be fair, of all the divisional opponents…we have the least beef with you guys, you deserve at least one under Allen…but hopefully we get at least one under Maye too :P

‪Honestly with how bad they were the last two seasons, even considering a weak strength of schedule, this is such a huge improvement for the team, I don’t think I could’ve asked for more from Vrabel. THIS is incredible as far as growth. And there’s room to improve!‬

‪FIRST TEAM TO CLINCH A GUARANTEED WINNING SEASON AT 9 WINS, WE’RE BACK BITCHES!‬

‪Which means that Sony or AMC or whoever with access to do that, probably isn’t doing it because it’s a cash cow for Netflix. Think about it, it hasn’t left Netflix in over a decade. Not once. And it won’t until 2027. Which is good for new watchers, but bad for fans wanting this!‬

‪“But the third act!” The first two thirds are masterful sci-fi glory with some of the best scenes of Boyle and Garland’s careers, and the final act is a fun b-movie, and I think that still averages out to still being a really enjoyable time, goddammit.‬

‪Like I see a world full of rampaging cruel awful monsters…but I’d save it all to protect the glimpses of humanity I occasionally get that remind me that we were not born this cruel, that we can be better.‬

Yeah but I think I was doubtful because I was like “that’s a huge bold adaptational change”

‪Also SPOILERS but uhhh‬

‪The implication is that Stavros’ character might’ve…molested Teddy? Like they never say what he did but like…he frames it as “and I never did it to anyone else” and “i think it was a power thing” I assumed it was gonna just be bullying like the original.‬

‪I’ll probably expand this review bc I have a lot to say having just seen the original. But I’ll say that I feel like the passage of time only made the adaptation of the original feel more fleshed out and necessary. Parts in the original that felt confused connect better.‬

I think it’s okay to not enjoy it, I’m more arguing that it isn’t problematic or dangerous per se.
