Good news: carbon intensity has declined
Bad news: carbon emissions increased, due to the rapid rise in world GDP
Also bad news: the chance of staying below 2°C remained low, at 17%
Better news: chance of going above 3°C has gone down substantially, from 26% to 9%

🌧️ #NewReport: the July 2025 Texas floods were up to 2 mm/day wetter (+7%) than similar past events — mainly due to human-driven climate change. Natural variability alone can't explain this. 📎 Read the report 👉 www.climameter.org/20250704-texas-floods

Has anyone noticed that the One Big Beautiful Bill Act kills the 50-year old motor vehicle fuel efficiency program (CAFE standards) by setting the fines for non-compliance to $0? CAFE remains law, but enforcement is nullified, making it harder to meet climate and energy objectives.

Food systems are the #2 contributor to climate change, the #1 driver of deforestation, the #1 driver of biodiversity loss on land, and the #1 user of freshwater.
(It follows that food systems contain many solutions to these problems.)
