RIP, Robert Redford, LEGEND

So many GREAT films: BUTCH CASSIDY & THE SUNDANCE KID; BRUBAKER; THE STING; THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR; THE NATURAL; ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN: THE CHASE; THE LAST CASTLE. My favorite of his, JEREMIAH JOHNSON

Not to be forgotten, his work as an activist and environmentalist

Robert Redford playing a gentle incarnation of death, coming for a frightened old woman in The Twilight Zone episode "Nothing in the Dark" (1962). An extraordinary performance then, terribly bittersweet today

Disney Adventures Volume 1, # 0 was the preview issue of Disney Adventures & aligned with the premiere of the Disney Afternoon in the fall of 1990. It was sent to fans who sent in proofs of purchase from boxes of Kellogg's cereal. It included the first TaleSpin comic to be published in the U.S.

DARKER THAN AMBER (1970)

Travis McGee novels should be musty and used, and I associate them with summer cottage reading

I liked this Rod Taylor version. You can feel the Florida sunshine, also the grime and sweat

While Roy Orbison’s “Oh, Pretty Woman” has a closer titular link to PRETTY WOMAN (1990), the definitive song of the film’s soundtrack for me is “King of Wishful Thinking” by Go West.

Not that I’m the spokesperson for The Arts™️ or anything, but I keep coming back to how anti-human it is to be anti-art-slash-pro-gen-AI. Inspiration is one thing you absolutely cannot automate. You can work on it, but in my experience you ultimately just have to let it happen. (1/5)
(I know most of y’all know this, but these days I feel the need to clarify: “sprang from my head like Athena” = “appeared in my mind in a flash as the culmination of years and years of thinking about art and experiencing life and subconsciously nurturing this idea.”)

With Casino Royale being the sole exception the last handful of Bond movies were (mostly) a depressing slog. Feels like the best days of the franchise are behind us.
What is your most controversial James Bond opinion?
