This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever fucking seen. They’re so close to understanding why universal healthcare would actually save everyone money, but they literally NEVER get there.

“We don’t have money to feed people despite an emergency account that exists already for that, but we can find millions for bonuses at the President’s whim.”
In a new post, President Trump makes various threats and promises to air traffic controllers who have very, very difficult jobs and hold the safety of air travel in their hands.

One small glimmer of hope for today, though this was always gonna be a long shot, toxic case for SCOTUS, and you can bet your last dollar Alito and his ilk will still do their level best to court a better case to give them the opportunity to overturn marriage equality.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court rejects a call to overturn its decision legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide.

Asking my Senators to vote for new leadership; either Chuck Schumer cannot whip votes, in which case he's useless, or he is fine giving up leverage for nothing, in which case he's worthless.

Schumer rightfully getting a lot of flack.
But Durbin should be getting just as much flack. He's the Senate whip. His job is to whip votes to hold the line. Yet he just voted to cave to Trump and allow healthcare premiums to skyrocket.
Both need to step down from leadership.

We can't vote Schumer out until 2028 but we can make him being the senate majority leader a litmus test for 2026 candidates. Every single Dem senate candidate should be forced to go on the record and state they will not vote for him as majority leader.

Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week
Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

The only glimmers of positivity in this toxic vote for Dems are that the CR ends Jan 30 and the ACA funding vote is supposed to happen in Dec, so Dems can shut it all down again in Feb if Thune goes back on his word…AND we now know who to primary and completely remove from leadership in our caucus.

A weak, feckless, ineffectual old man who belongs in a bingo hall, not the Senate. He just signed his own pink slip.
It doesn't actually matter if Chuck Schumer votes for this or not.
If he can't keep his caucus unified to protect healthcare for over 10 million Americans, he should resign as leader.

This sucks dude. EVEN if Thune isn’t lying to you about the vote, the House won’t hold a vote.
You got nothing, and just proved to the public that the shutdown was your fault.
And you proved to Republicans that they can weaponize hunger. You negotiated with terrorists

Any deal that would require Democrats to take Republicans at their word should be rejected.
Their word means nothing.

Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.
If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

I swear to god @schiff.senate.gov and @padilla.senate.gov if either of you capitulate now to Republicans and vote with any other spineless Senate Dems to reopen the govt without first protecting healthcare subsidies, YOUR ASS IS GRASS.

Chuck Schumer deserves to lose all leadership and his seat for good if he capitulates on this without first securing a vote on healthcare subsidies. His defining legacy will be that of a doormat who ushered in authoritarianism on his watch. A feckless idiot with no principles or backbone.

They do not have a plan, they’ve never had a plan. They’ve also never had the votes to repeal the ACA which is *OVERWHELMINGLY* popular, nor have they been able to get the Supreme Court to overturn it, so instead they’ve just shut down the entire government to try forcing Dems to stop funding it.
