Saffron beat placebo in mild, subclinical #depression, largest trial yet of this low-cost herb (n=202, effect size 0.44)

Saffron has multiple RCTs in depression, but most from Iran; this (industry sponsored) one is not:

Hey remember when people said “we need a domestic terrorism statute” and people like me said “that would be super ripe for abuse for whatever lunatic is in power, would you want Trump to have that power” and you sneered at “slippery slope thinking”? Yeah, I remember, dipshit.
President Trump says that he is going to label incidents of violence/vandalism at Tesla dealerships as “domestic terrorism.”

Part of the lesson here is that Trumpists, like many bullies, don’t handle it well if you stand up to them rather than caving. If Trump or Vance or their supporters had any character this petulant display and Zelenskyy’s defiance would be humiliating to them.

Donald Trump has disgraced the United States of America in countless ways since he first entered political life ten years ago.

But he had never disgraced the nation as badly as he did today.

He has brought shame on this country to an extent I had never thought possible. And he has only just begun.

The Trumpists will LOVE the international condemnation of this farce. They’re fundamentally trolls: “oh seems like you’re triggered.”

Today was a grim, terrible day for the United States and the cause of democracy. Putin, along with other dictators around the world, can finally look at Trump with confidence and think: one of us.

I have covered presidential politics for 40 years. This was the most juvenile display by a President and Vice President I have ever seen. Other presidents treated their enemies with more respect. This is a low point and a dark day for the US. Totally embarrassing.

Mania speeds up the sense of time, while #depression slows it down.

The result: people with #bipolar to overestimate passage of time in mania (and underestimate in depression), concludes new review:

Antipsychotics with D3 partial agonism ranked by efficacy in #depression (ABC!):
1. Aripiprazole
2. Brexpiprazole
3. Cariprazine

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38639435

Optimal doses in graph. I agree, but pure D3 agonist pramipexole works with less medical/neuro risk.

Do antidepressants augment mood stabilizers in #bipolar #depression? Yes, but benefit is very small (effect size=0.2 in this analysis):
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38056138

Weigh that against risks (rapid cycling, mania, mixity), and they are a far cry from first line in #bipolardisorder
