Myth #3 : “Climate change is a natural process. It has nothing to do with people.”

Fact: While climate change is a natural process human activity is pushing it into overdrive.

Myth #2: “Climate change has always happened, so there’s nothing to worry about.”

Fact: The Earth is warming at its fastest rate in at least 2,000 years and under current policies is projected to rise this century to 2.8°C hotter than it was in pre-industrial times.

Myth #1 : “A couple of degrees of warming is not that big of a deal.”

Fact: Actually, small temperature rises can throw the world’s delicate ecosystems into disarray, with dire implications for humans and other living things.

New research shows we could power the entire planet for a year if we put solar panels on the land currently used for biofuel. But if we used all that biofuel for aviation - we'd only fuel about 1/3 of flights. Biofuel isn't the fix. Reducing flying & consumption is.

It's rare to see how lobbyists operate. But the Epstein-Mandelson correspondence shows us what happens all the time: plutocrats and government ministers conspiring against the public interest. This is why all lobbying should be in the public domain, but despite Labour and Con promises, it's not. 🧵

The UK was a founding member of the European Environment Agency over 30 years ago, yet left in 2021. Rejoining would enable the cooperations needed to tackle environmental threats - five of the EEA's 32 member countries are not in the EU, and the UK should be one more.

Please spread this far and wide, as stories don't get much bigger than this. When the government blocks even the intelligence services from telling us we're heading for environmental catastrophe, you know we have a problem. A very big problem.
Thank you.

"The absurdity is hard to overstate. As climate volatility increases, we are clinging to the most resource-intensive way to feed ourselves."
Heatwaves, floods, empty seas, failed harvests. Then we act shocked. Using animals as resources is not separate from climate collapse, it is central to it. If we want stability, this system has to end.

1) Add up costs to install & run a net-zero energy system
2) Pretend fossil-fuelled alternatives wld be free
3) Do say "eco zealots are bankrupting us"
4) Don't say "free cars if we scrap net-zero" cos it sounds ridiculous
5) That's it!
