Massie: "The president has been saying this is a hoax. Well, he's just now decided to investigate a hoax, if it's a hoax. And I have another concern about these investigations he's announced. If they have ongoing investigations, those documents can't be released. So this might be a big smokescreen."

Because of military service, I’ve always had healthcare. I had a nine year break in service and came back in because of healthcare costs. My son was born in England over 20 years ago, via c-section. Because of the NHS I paid zero dollars. We can and must do better.
Forget extending the tax credits, now the Republicans are talking getting rid of the Affordable Care Act completely...

If GOP senators think they deserve 500K minimum for having their phone privacy invaded how much should citizens and legal residents detained by ICE for being Brown get? 10 million? 100 million?

Americans have endured the longest government shutdown in history, although the end is now in sight. The impasse broke after eight senators who vote with the Democrats joined Republicans without a guaranteed extension of health care subsidies that the Democrats had been demanding for months.

Democrats were overwhelmingly united on their shutdown demands.

Americans understood that Trump and Republicans were to blame.

Voters made it known last Tuesday that they'll elect leaders who stand up to Trump.

Democrats held the cards — and folded for no reason.

From street marches to court battles to the ballot box - we’ve challenged the power of this exceptionally unpopular president.

The lesson from each success we've had is that we need to ramp the political pressure up, always up, not back down, now more than ever.

In response to this claim that the "strategy didn't work."

The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.

And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

Gutted by the Dems caving after the blue-wave wins of last week? Sick & tired of us snatching defeat from the jaws of victory? I hear you! Might I suggest you calm yourself, relax, take a deep, cleansing breath... then see if this photo of 2 pandas cuddling is of any help.

seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

The GOP bragged they’d never negotiate — that they didn’t need Democrats.

Then they shut down the government, threw parties at Mar-a-Lago, and kept Congress on vacation while Americans missed paychecks.

Polls were turning on them.

Tonight’s Senate vote on the federal government shutdown should have been a time for strength.

Instead we saw capitulation and a betrayal of working Americans.

The American people need more from their leaders.

Americans have endured the pain of the longest government shutdown in history for a “deal” that guarantees nothing on healthcare.

If Republicans wanted to vote to extend subsidies, they would’ve done it already.

Capitulating is unacceptable.

This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.
