COVID-19 remained leading cause of acute respiratory infection-related mortality 2023-2025. >6000 confirmed COVID-19-related deaths in 2023, ~5000 in 2024, 5–10 times number of deaths attributed to influenza. Australia’s COVID-19 “excess mortality” estimated ~ 8000 deaths in 2024
