The xplat thing is fantastic for mobile dev, a few years back I had to spend some time building xamarin apps for iOS and Android, so being able to use Rider on Mac to build both was a major time saver

it is however 100% fair that abstractions in the middle make it more tricky to fix these issues or create their own issues. for us they’re worth it because we’re generally able to strip them down as needed while retaining very high product velocity for xplat code. but yes, it is not free!

Some other OSS projects try to implement signing each file format from scratch, but it's super hard and many are hobby projects.

overall we’re pretty committed to RN, it has its flaws but the ability to write higher-level xplat coordination code in JS while dropping down to native level for specific views and interactions has been amazing. the problem is some of the 3p glue layer is not very reliable and this affects quality
