Honestly, this is probably a scene that's either going to be moved to a later part in the story, because as I was writing it, I realized, "There is no way this information would or should be out yet." But, I still like the scene.

She couldn’t believe what the gazette had written. Such a headline would cause mass panic if true; they’d never publish such an obvious falsehood, no matter how desperate they were to outsell their competitors. This story had to have some inkling of truth to it. Her ink-stained fingertips traced the words as her eyes darted across the page; she read about the report given by a local watchman that he and his partner had found a woman fleeing in distress who’d claimed to see an orc. The two watchmen then stumbled upon a hooded figure they believed to be the orc; one went back to report the incident and get further assistance, while the other stayed to keep an eye on things. Unfortunately, when the second watchman didn’t return, the first lead a small number of officers back to the scene where they found the second near dead in the streets, his uniformed scorched, and his body severely burned.

excerpt from my Be Gay Do Crimes WIP: “Instead of predicting worst-case scenarios, what if you imagined what could go right?” Ness falters, opening and closing her mouth, but words fail her. How can she explain that it isn’t that simple? There’s a twisted sense of comfort in negative hypotheticals. If she can think through all the ways something can go wrong, she’ll be more prepared to face them. Ignoring them in favor of hopeful what ifs will only set her up for disappointment if they don’t come to pass.

Asta shrugged; Adam’s bad habit seemed to have worn off on her now. She slowly sat on the bench beside him and said, “You really are good, you know? Truly.” “I know. You said that already.” “But I mean it!” “I know. You said it twice now.” Was that supposed to be a joke? Asta felt her violet cheeks grow pink, and she smacked him on the arm. “What’s wrong with you? I’m trying to be nice! And don’t you dare shrug or mother’s blessings I’ll…” Adam looked at her with an expression she couldn’t quite make out, but she knew he really wanted to shrug his shoulders. She gave a weak sigh and once again said, “You are really, truly, honestly amazing.”

Nyks Tobirhal stared out across the open fields, down the winding Marasalûn river, over the roiling hills, and there upon he horizon she could see the smokestacks billowing from the city of Dand. She wore her long black, leather coat which draped down to her knees over a black and red embroidered tunic. Her hood was pulled up to cover her bright and leafy silver, red, and blue hair; and hidden beneath her sleaves were a pair of silver dusted daggers which seemed to grow heavier each day. Soon. Jerome hmmed. “You excited?” Buckling his bag closed again, he shoved long, greasy strands of hair out of his face. “I would certainly rather be anywhere but here.” Dunn adjusted the tail of his own dark hair, realizing it had gotten loose when he’d broken into a run. “But I do need to apologize to Willow in person.” He sighed. “That’s going to be a task, for sure.” He would’ve offered Jerome the opportunity for a hot bath before he left, but he knew the man would refuse. He couldn’t help but smile at the idea of apologizing to Willow, though. They’d been in the temple together since they were children. They’d been lovers half their lives. He wasn’t always the best at making her feel appreciated, but he did love her with every fiber of his being, and he would find a way to make it up to her. “Why?” Jerome asked. “You’ve seen her,” Dunn pointed out. “I bet she’s been pissed every time you give her mail.” Jerome laughed. “That she has! Though I’m not sure if she’s pissed about receiving your letters or if it’s the baby.” “Baby?” Dunn asked. Confused, he stared at Jerome.

I just watched a tiktok story n there was a comment going "bro forgot to remove the ai prompt" and like. it was a post.. from the writingpromts subreddit.. I hate the way ppl just assume everything is ai like yes it's everywhere but blindly labeling all art ai is such an issue
