vasilopita is a cake or bread baked on new years day and has a coin hidden and baked inside. in greek tradition, we cut the cake into slices for everyone in the family + a slice for the house, and whoevers slice has the coin, gets good luck for the year!

Happy New Year, everyone! Καλή Πρωτοχρονιά! We had the Vasilopita (Greek New Year’s Cake). It was delicious! My mom did an awesome job! I didn't get the coin, my younger brother did. We also celebrated my other brother’s Names Day. I hope 2026 will be a happy and healthy year!
