Did please me to see Scotto liked my comment but tbh this is a point Vinny made 15 mins into the podcast about the Lotus Emira: the steering/shifter are of an analog-era car but the NVH is too sanitised. Inspiring me to rewrite my “fizz” article…

At that point in my life, I think it was the right decision to stay put. But I thought about it a lot.

I know it doesn’t give me the racecar feeling of the sheer directness of inputs and the equilibrium of what my butt feels and what the chassis is doing.

But that latter part goshdangit did it get close for me. I loved driving the G20 tbh… if there’s one thing I hated it was the boat of a hood.

In all incarnations, Charlie's Angels has only been successful in two of its six seasons and one of its three movies, that's a pretty low hit rate for something they keep trying to bring back
A new version of ‘Charlie’s Angels’ is in the works.

Why would I buy a new Prelude when I can buy three Douglas DC-8s?

Ain't it fun how it fits neatly into the wheelbase...

My dad recalls that he sat in classic Recaros for the first time in one of these so I bet the owner threw the standard seats in the bin even back then. Black or White looks good (dammit MJ, that song is TRULY stuck in my head)

In black with the rally lights, I bet it's a riot regardless of how busy the ride was or if the dash isn't up to snuff: it's a really good looking car!
February 13, 2026 at 10:51 PM
I recall stories of A) the dash plastics being wafer thin B) how upset the ride was driving on as yet unpaved roads around Greece!

Queen sh*t

As an aside: here's my grandpa in front of his+my dad's Mk3 Escort back in the day. From memory, first car grandpa owned where the steering locked when the key was out and he asked a neighbor thinking it was broken.

It is difficult to feel proud but me just doing this has done that a little bit.
May it only ever grow…

But tbh all that aside, I require a W140. The E38 strikes me as the sort of car for someone who wants to overcompensate instead of buying an E39 or E36, ergo, just a big BMW but the W140 must be a tank.
This is what Mercedes ought to stand for.

My toxic trait is that I think a C32 AMG estate will have the speed I seek and some engagement even if the plastics will be horrid, it’ll hopefully be tuned like a real Benz.

But all said and done… SLK230, SL500 of any gen, S124? I love the S123. Lovely!
February 13, 2026 at 10:24 PM
I drove 330e, 318d and a 320 once and I really did adore the G20 enough to make me want one but I have heard from sources I trust the F30 is even more engaging. That’s the only thing missing.

530e was superb too, IMO. Isn’t helped by the fact it’s the first 5er gen I drove though!

… and yet all BMWs from the least exciting one in the range are exciting.
Funny how that works!
