Over the last 48 hours, the talking point on the right has solidified; the only reason that we are seeing violent clashes against ICE is because of sanctuary policies and failure to cooperate from city officials who are fanning the flames.

Art of two of my OCs, Teal and Watching. Teal is a balloon dog, Watching is an angel. This is what the text says: "One doesn't forget something major that happens, whether words or actions." "So what then?" "...You learn and move on." This was a practice for a different style (akin to the one I have now) with my Oc Cator. All the drawings were done on Post-it, making her neon yellow as a result. More art of Cator, but also The traveler. Underneath is a post it storage like thing which has doodles of the both of them in there. Stars surrounding the two heads. Even more art of Cator, with a little sticker of Coaly in the corner. The background is an eyesore blend of yellow into Orange, the previous pen sketch of a different character underneath Cator. Stars and the moon are above him.

Taking a bunch more photos for iNaturalist and making steady progress on my life list of bird species I've photographed. These were taken at my nearby wetlands. #photography #AustralianBirds
Four Royal Spoonbills feeding in a shallow pond. They're large pure white birds with long plumes on the back of their heads. They're named for their black, spoon-shaped bills which they're sweeping through the pond, looking for food, small insects and crustaceans. Their faces are naked, and solid black like their bills, except for bright yellow eyebrows. These birds arrived at 9am, after I'd already been at the pond for about two hours. They foraged in the Giralang Wetlands pond which has only been getting shallower as we go longer and longer into summer without rain. Hopefully it will refill soon and flush new life in the wetland. This small bird is a Silvereye, named for the bright white ring around its eyes. It has a yellowish-brown head and a buff chest. The wings and tail appear darker brown. It's perched in a native tree with sticks and leaves all around. This was by far the hardest work I did to get a photo today. There were groups of Silvereyes moving through trees in the wetlands, often right above my head. However they're very small and very fast, so I ended up with dozens of near miss photos where I couldn't focus fast enough or even find them in a tangle of foliage. Practice makes perfect though, and now I have them. Mwahaha. This is only the second White-faced Heron I've ever seen at the wetlands, and the other one I saw just as it flew away. It's a photo of a large, mostly middle grey bird, with long straight yellow legs and plumes draped over its back. The long neck leads to a pure white face and a long straight dark bill. The bird is bent over, focussed on the pond in front of it. There is a Grey Teal duck to the left of the image. Behind the Heron is the weedy bank of the pond with long grass. This tiny bird is a Weebill, named for its distinctively tiny bill. The bird is also very tiny, but is otherwise very plain. It is darker brown on its head and upper body, and buff underneath. It's perched on a stick against a pale blue sky. Another very hard bird to photograph, I had no idea what I'd photographed until I downloaded the image. So tiny, so quick.

He wordlessly let Steak guide his palm further along, from his knee to his cro— wait. What was that? There was something wrapped about Steak's thigh. Underneath his trousers. Lejo pulled his hand away, "What are you playing at? What are you wearing underneath your clothes??" "You're asking me so soon?" "You're the one so keen for me to find out!" Steak cocked his head, with that devilish, infectious little smirk on his face. The one that always drove Lejo halfway to madness. "Just a present for you for later, should you like it. I wrapped it myself," He undid the top two buttons of his silk blouse, and Lejo realized with sudden clarity why exactly Steak had been so much more covered than usual. Pulled taught against Steak's skin was a length of red rope. Lejo could see just enough to know that it had been fashioned into a sort of harness, sure to be tightened fast against Steak's smooth and supple skin; biting into every curve of his body. Lejo bit his lip, and dug his fingers into his own thighs. Bollocks. Bollocks, bollocks, bollocks.

The summer after high school I picked up the best summer job ever working the docks at a sailboat brokerage/rental place on Seattle's Lake Union. Still a working lake at the time it was a bustling hive of fishing boats, haul outs and hard work scraping bottoms, float planes heading to the San Juans or Alaska. There were evening races that would wind up in a big gang of boats lashed together in the middle of the lake and partying all night. If it got too hot, you could always just fall overboard. I looked up one afternoon to see two wild-looking dumpy guys walking down the dock. They had thick Australian accents and tour jackets identifying them as road crew for Eric Clapton and they wanted to trade some tickets for time on a boat. They didn't HAVE the tickets but said they'd put my name on the list at Key Arena the next night. Coincidentally, I had just run into my crush from senior year. Laurie attended another high school in the district and we met at the radio broadcasting class we were both taking. She was the most sophisticated and gorgeous girl I'd ever seen in my life and to this day I can picture the first time I saw her -- quick grin under a short bob, sparkling eyes. I was smitten immediately but was otherwise deep in teenage alienation and self-doubt. I had just begun hanging out in the Seattle punk scene and smoking pot and she was just incredibly cute and wholesome. It seemed like a big lift. Also it was obvious that she was crushed on the jock in our class, a pompous dick with great hair and a movie-star looks. The year passed without ever managing to summon a sentence in her presence but then one day I ran into her outside a store and she remembered me. She even knew my name! We talked for a minute and she gave me her phone number...and four days later here were tickets, maybe, to see Eric Clapton dropping in my lap. I dialed the number. Not having the tickets in hand, I made it clear that this was a lark but if the show wasn't sold out we'd just buy tickets anyway. But when I gave my name to the gal at the will-call window there they were -- tickets....AND backstage passes! Fifteen minutes later Laurie and I were being greeted by the road crew backstage and talking sailing with these grizzled world travelers. The seats were fantastic and the show was amazing. I kept glancing at Laurie to see if any of this was actually happening. I drove her home and she turned that smile on me and told me she'd had an amazing time and then SHE KISSED ME (on the cheek). Oh. My. God. A bit of quick thinking...I asked her if she'd like to go sailing the next weekend and she said yes. Oh. My. God. The week went by in a blur of nerves. I got a boat ready, a little 20-ish foot Coronado from the rental fleet. What the hell do adults DO on dates? I bought grapes and cheese. I had an older friend buy wine. I would have peeled those damned grapes if I thought it would help me look cool. Laurie arrived like a tiny goddess -- bouncing down the dock in a beach wrap and a little knit bikini. I don't think I'd ever been this close to a girl in a bikini who was there to be with ME before this. I do remember having trouble with sentences again. It was a gorgeous Seattle day and we pushed off and tacked back and forth a few times taking in the sights of Lake Union. And then I made a fatal mistake. Lake Union is, well, small. But just through the Montlake Cut, past the University of Washington campus lies Lake Washington, a much bigger body of water. If we were THERE we'd be able to set a course and not just tack back and forth every ten minutes. I took us through the Cut. Pretty much the first thing I tried to do was sail under the 520 floating bridge. It was absolutely the wrong move. The east end of the bridge arches up to the bluffs, giving space for boats to pass underneath but we lost wind. And then I flooded the engine, which I was wholly unfamiliar with, and there we were bouncing up and down in choppy water watching the tip of the mast slide closer and closer to the lowering concrete of the road. And when we HIT that road, it would drive the mast down through the hull and we would sink in choppy water under a highway where no one could see us. A little luck and thinking managed to get us just back onto the north side of the bridge but now we were being tossed up against the roadbed where it sat on the water. And those wind-driven swells were bouncing off the road and the confusion of waves made it impossible to get the bow around to catch any wind. I remember pushing us off repeatedly and wishing that I could just fall over now and end this misery of my making. Maybe the lake would just open and take me to the bottom. I finally managed to get us around and get headway and it might have only been 15 minutes but it was an eternity and I was SO deeply shamed at my ineptitude. I got us back to the dock to check for damage and Laurie excused herself and disappeared. I spent hours staring at the slip of paper with her phone number over the next weeks and I didn't see her again for 20 years. Imagine my surprise when I came out of a store near my parents home some decades later and run into Laurie! We chatted for a moment (my god, she looked exactly the same!) and then she brought up that day. Told me that she had felt so bad afterward because I never called and she thought it must have been because she was so frightened and I thought less of her. Told me how impressive it had been to have me explain what I was going to do and then do it. LOL. If only I had known!

Elon Musk Sasha Stone Michael Trudeau Nathan Rothschild Saif al-Islam Gaddafi 4) I testify for the record what I witnessed occur during the 12-year-old Blasphemy rituals. a) I and my training partner Douglas John Killrush Mysecko were five years old. I was standing on the scaffolding on the left side overlooking the ritual area. My Proctor, the Queen Mother of Darkness, Clara Odelia Acker Church, stood to my left. My training partner and Protector Douglas John Killrush Mysecko stood to my right. b) Along the two long sides of the pool there were ropes strung. There were 13 girls strung to these ropes. The ropes that hung from the sides of pool went underneath their arms. The girls were facing the wall, their hands tied behind their backs. Their barefoot feet were tied at the ankles to each other. The girls were all naked and about 8-12 years old. They were being set aside for sex magik and ritual consumption. c) Half the 12-year-old boys were chosen for the second night of ritual, the other half went the third night. They only saw the boys they were with that night take their rituals. The first night I saw Nate Rothchild, Elon Musk, and Sasha Stone in ritual. The second night, Michael Trudeau and Saif al-Islam Gaddafi. d) I remember the boys being strung upside down by rope by ladder area into pool. Their hands tied behind their back and their legs were tied together. The High Priests presiding over the ceremony stand on the scaffolding above them. The following three Grand High Quadrant Priests were present: Cardinal/Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan (St. Louis, MO), Archbishop John L. May (Chicago, IL), Archbishop Thomas Grady (Rockford, IL). e) The Grand High Priests have a statue of Jesus which they connect a sexual device used by women in sexual intercourse. It basically is a dildo that a woman wears and then inserts anally, vaginally, or orally into her victims. The practice is called pegging. The Grand High Priests pour blood over the statue (not sure where it is obtained from before this). The Grand High Priests begin to chant, "Your duty is first to God, then to your brothers and sisters." They repeat this phrase over and over. As they repeat this phrase, they begin moving the statue and inserting the bloody dildo into the 12-year-old victims oral and anal orifices. (The statue of Jesus is later cleaned with urine and semen mix and placed back in the church to be venerated and kissed by devout parishioners.) All the sex in this ritual is done softly and gently. The goal is to bind the brothers and sisters to one another through intimacy and desire. All the women present wear these pegging devices. f) After the boys are raped by the statue of Jesus the Grand High Priests continue to emphasize that one's duty is first to God and then to their brothers and sisters. At this point, those present who are part of the circle come in small groups and take turns raping the boys at the same time, inserting in all orifices at the same time. During this rape, there are pauses. During those pauses, each member in the circle will put their face close to the boy's face. They will say, "I am your brother. It is your duty to keep my secrets and it is my duty to keep yours. Are you my brother?" The boy will answer, "I am your brother." Up until this point, the 12-year-old boys are considered virgins. They may have been raped anally but it will be the first time they are allowed to initiate penetration upon a victim. g) After the inner circle rape, while the 12 year old boy is being brought down from hanging the inner circle adults do various things to continue touching and arousing him. Slowly, all the adults but th… Be fruitful and multiply." I watched as the priests drew the boys to insert their penis into girls. The adults in the scaffolding make noises that arouse the boy more. (I did not see it in this first ritual, but later learned that pills are given to the boys before the ritual to cause long term arousal.) h) Next, while carousing, Grand High Priests give the boys shots of adrenochrome to cause psychosis. During a psychosis, the high dose of adrenochrome causes an intense anger and impulse to tear and rip human flesh apart. It is at this point, that the adults above summon high level demonic spirits. These spirits are welcomed to have their way. I saw them take turns entering the boys. As they did, the boys began raping the girls and got aggressive and vigorous until they began ripping the girls apart into pieces and consuming them. As they do this, the Grand High Priests join and shout blasphemies at Jesus and declare they are god. i) I testify that the girls who are ritually killed are not drugged nor paralyzed during this ritual killing. In the end, only a mess remains. When the ritual is done, the adults subdue the boys and tie them down to wallow in the blood bath on the pool floor until the adrenochrome completely wears off. When the adrenochrome wears down, the Grand High Priests give the boys a drug that makes them forget consciously what has occurred. 5) I testify that Muammar Gaddafi threatened many times throughout my childhood that he would bring forth the secrets of the Northern Inner Circle. I would hear Clara Odelia Acker Church tell various members in this inner circle who were concerned to appease him by giving him the lives of individuals in his country he requested to set free from the System. Eventually, those set free would be murdered. 6) I testify that all five of the 12-ycar-old boys at this ritual partook in Government run experiments for the DOD, CERN, DAARPA, or HAARP. All 12 participated in Looking Glass. Is He Actually the One in Control, Or is He Fronting for Other Power Centres? This is the part people get wrong when they say, ❝he’s a puppet.❞ He’s not a puppet. He is the focal point of a coalition. Think ❝hub with spokes,❞ not ❝marionette.❞ There are (at least) three major spokes: Spoke A: Trump's Personal Crew This is loyalty-first. Family, inner courtiers, people who exist to protect him personally, punish his enemies, and insulate him from consequences. Their job is to weaponize the state for his impunity — legal immunity, revenge, profit, settling feuds. This crew feeds his omnipotence narrative and encourages the ❝I alone decide who lives and dies❞ posture because it justifies doing illegal things on his behalf. If the boss is The State, then protecting the boss = protecting The State. That’s how you launder personal revenge into national security. Spoke B: Movement Architects (Heritage, Christian Nationalist Cadres, Parts of Federalist Society, Etc.) This layer cares less about his ego and more about the long game: permanently gutting liberal democracy’s guardrails and locking in a structurally anti-democratic order (unitary executive theory, Christian nationalist state power, purges of civil service, voter suppression, judicial capture, ending independent agencies, rolling back rights, etc.). They’ve wanted an executive who’ll sign off on open-season authority: purge disloyal bureaucrats, declare enemies ❝terrorists,❞ call dissent ❝insurrection,❞ invoke emergency powers domestically, treat federal law enforcement as a political weapon. They feed him legalistic language and memos that say, ❝Yes, Mr. President, you absolutely can do X,❞ and they draft the machinery to make X durable. To them, his ❝omnipotence❞ talk is useful because it helps normalize the legal theory they want anyway: the unitary executive — president as supreme, unreviewable sovereign. Once you normalize that, you can use it for abortion bans, anti-LGBTQ crackdowns, protest suppression, immigration raids, whatever. They like the principle, even if they sometimes hate his execution. So: are they ❝pulling levers❞? They are absolutely building the levers and sliding them under his hand. They are engineering the doctrine that says the president is essentially above law except God and ❝the People.❞ That doctrine predates him, but he is the perfect vessel because he has no shame and no brakes. Spoke C: Transactional Interests Energy interests, defence/contractor interests, certain billionaires, certain foreign leaders who get something from chaos. This isn’t even ideological. It’s ❝I’ll stroke your ego and call you a world-historic figure if you give me immunity to do what I want, deregulate what I want, smash who I want.❞ These people don’t care if he thinks he’s Caesar or the Second Coming. They care that he’ll kneecap any institutional obstacle that’s in their way. His ❝omnipotence❞ is their leverage tool. So, is someone ❝really running things❞? No, not in the clean puppet-master sense. But is there an organized project underneath him that’s feeding him language, pre-writing the legal justifications, and then cashing out on the back end? Yes. Absolutely. Think of it this way: He supplies the raw will to smash norms. They supply the blueprint to turn that smash into a system. That’s how democracies get hollowed out fast. Why Everything Under Him Feels Like Accelerating Calamity Instead of Stable Authoritarian Order Authoritarian systems come in two flavours: Cold, disciplined, controlled (think: well-run security state). Chaotic, loyalty-obsessed, purge-heavy, paranoid. Trump’s is the second type. And that’s more dangerous internationally, because it’s unpredictable and escalation-prone. Here’s the cycle: He asserts dominance (❝I can kill them anywhere, Congress can’t stop me❞). Allies, neighbours, courts, even Republicans balk. He interprets balking as betrayal and doubles down louder. The movement architects rush in and say, ❝Sir, here’s a doctrine that says you really are allowed to do that.❞ They wrap his tantrum in constitutional cosplay. The next action is more extreme, and now it’s got a memo stapled to it calling it lawful. That’s how you end up at ❝license to kill cartel suspects in other sovereign countries without Congress,❞ which, two cycles ago, would’ve sounded cartoonish. So, the calamity we’re sensing is not random. It’s iterative radicalization: His need to feel omnipotent, Plus, his inability to accept limits without rage, Plus, a legal/political machine that keeps telling him, ❝you were right, Sir, you always had this power,❞ Plus, opportunists who profit from each ratchet. That’s why it keeps getting worse. That’s why each outrage becomes the premise for the next outrage. Where this leaves the angle If anyone out there is grasping for an angle that would make sense of the calamities, here’s the clean, brutal angle that actually tracks: Trump operates like a protection racketeer, not a head of state. Everything is tribute and threat. ❝Nice economy / border / alliance you’ve got there, shame if something happened to it.❞ He calls that a ❝deal.❞ It’s not a deal; that is extortion.

Again, sluttified in that it shows off her body, especially her legs. Two panels next to this show Mason dressed as a masculine Lydia Deetz. It's very red, looks very soft, and has spider-webs all over the main materials. His hairy legs are visible through the translucent material of the stockings, and his hairy happy trail and chest are visible too. There's very little there for the bra to support, and the thong is doing a poor job to hide the bulge of his cock. The only piece of clothing not designed to be sexually appeal that remains on him is his boots. "I should have known you'd do something like this..." he mutters. An inset panel shows a back view of his outfit. His ass and slight b-acne is fully out there. "They will be here directly," she said, and, taking a seat at one end of the rock, invited me to sit down on the other edge. The after-glow was beginning to fade in the sky and a single star twinkled faintly through the rosy haze. A long, wavering triangle of waterfowl drifted southward over our heads, and from the swamps around plover were calling. "They are very beautiful—these moors," she said, quietly. "Beautiful, but cruel to strangers," I answered. "Beautiful and cruel," she repeated, dreamily— "beautiful and cruel." "Like a woman," I said, stupidly. "Oh," she cried, with a little catch in her breath, and looked at me. Her dark eyes met mine, and I thought she seemed angry or frightened. "Like a woman," she repeated, under her breath; "how cruel to say so!" Then, after a pause, as though speaking aloud to herself, "How cruel for him to say that." I don't know what sort of an apology I offered for my inane, though harmless, speech, but I know that she seemed so troubled about it that I began to think I had said something very dreadful without knowing it, and remembered with horror the pitfalls and snares which the French language sets for foreigners. While I was trying to imagine what I might have said, a sound of voices came across the moor, and the girl rose to her feet. "No," she said, with a trace of a smile on her pale face, "I will not accept your apologies, monsieur; but I must prove you wrong, and that shall be my revenge. Look. Here come Hastur and Raoul." Two men loomed up in the twilight. One had a sack across his shoulders and the other carried a hoop before him as a waiter carries a tray. The hoop was fastened with straps to his shoulders, and around the edge of the circlet sat three hooded falcons fitted with tinkling bells. P. 6 The girl stepped up to the falconer, and with a quick turn of her wrist transferred her falcon to the hoop, where it quickly sidled off and nestled among its mates, who shook their hooded heads and ruffled their feathers till the belled jesses tinkled again. The other man stepped forward and, bowing respectfully, took up the hare and dropped it into the game-sack. "These are my piqueurs," said the girl, turning to me with a gentle dignity. "Raoul is a good fauconnier and I shall some day make him grand veneur. Hastur is incomparable." The two silent men saluted me respectfully. "Did I not tell you, monsieur, that I should prove you wrong?" she continued. "This, then, is my revenge, that you do me the courtesy of accepting food and shelter at my own house." Before I could answer she spoke to the falconers, who started instantly across the heath, and with a gracious gesture to me she followed. I don't know whether I made her understand how profoundly grateful I felt, but she seemed pleased to listen as we walked over the dewy heather. "Are you not very tired?" she asked. I had clean forgotten my fatigue in her presence, and I told her so. "Don't you think your gallantry is a little old-fashioned?" she said; and when I looked confused and humbled, she added, quietly, "Oh, I like it; I like everything old-fashioned, and it is delightful to hear you say such pretty things." The moorland around us was very still now under its ghostly sheet of mist. The plover had ceased their calling; the crickets and all the little creatures of the fields were silent as we passed, yet it seemed to me as if I could hear them beginning again far behind us. Well in advance the two tall falconers strode across the heather, and the faint jingling of the hawk's bells came to our ears in distant, murmuring chimes. Suddenly a splendid hound dashed out of the mist in front, followed by another and another, until half a dozen or more were bounding and leaping around the girl beside me. Page 7 She caressed and quieted them with her gloved hand, speaking to them in quaint terms which I remembered to have seen in old French manuscripts. Then the falcons on the circlet borne by the falconer ahead began to beat their wings and scream, and from somewhere out of sight the notes of a hunting-horn floated across the moor. The hounds sprang away before us and vanished in the twilight, the falcons napped and squealed upon their perch, and the girl, taking up the song of the horn, began to hum. Clear and mellow her voice sounded in the night air: "Chasseur, chasseur, chassez encore, Quittez Rosette et Jeanneton, Tonton, tonton, tontaine, tonton, Ou, pour, rabattre, dès l'aurore, Que les Amours soient de planton, Tonton, tontaine, tonton." As I listened to her lovely voice, a gray mass which rapidly grew more distinct loomed up in front, and the horn rang out joyously through the tumult of the hounds and falcons. A torch glimmered at a gate, a light streamed through an opening door, and we stepped upon a wooden bridge which trembled under our feet, and rose creaking and straining behind us as we passed over the moat and into a small stone court, walled on every side. From an open doorway a man came, and, bending in salutation, presented a cup to the girl beside me. She took the cup and touched it with her lips, then lowering it, turned to me and said, in a low voice, "I bid you welcome." At that moment one of the falconers came with another cup, but before handing it to me presented it to the girl, who tasted it. The falconer made a gesture to receive it, but she hesitated a moment, and then, stepping forward, offered me the cup with her own hands. I felt this to be an act of extraordinary graciousness, but hardly knew what was expected of me, and did not raise it to my lips at once. The girl flushed crimson. I saw that I must act quickly. Page 8 "Mademoiselle," I faltered, "a stranger whom you have saved from dangers he may never realize, empties this cup to the gentlest and loveliest hostess of France." "In His name," she murmured, crossing herself as I drained the cup. Then, stepping into the doorway, she turned to me with a pretty gesture, and taking my hand in hers led me into the house, saying again and again: "You are very welcome—indeed, you are welcome to the Château d'Ys." II I AWOKE next morning with the music of the horn in my ears, and, leaping out of the ancient bed, went to a curtained window where the sunlight filtered through little, deep-set panes. The horn ceased as I looked into the court below. A man who might have been brother to the two falconers of the night before stood in the midst of a pack of hounds. A curved horn was strapped over his back and in his hand he held a long-lashed whip. The dogs whined and yelped, dancing around him in anticipation; there was the stamp of horses, too, in the walled yard. "Mount!" cried a voice in Breton, and with a clatter of hoofs the two falconers, with falcons upon their wrists, rode into the court-yard among the hounds. Then I heard another voice which sent the blood throbbing through my heart: " Piriou Louis, hunt the hounds well, and spare neither spur nor whip. Thou, Raoul, and thou, Gaston, see that the èpervier does not prove himself niais, and if it be best in your judgment, faites courtoisie à lʼoiseau. Fardiner un oiseau like the mué there on Hastur's wrist is not difficult, but thou, Raoul, mayst not find it so simple to govern that hagard. Twice last week he foamed au vif and lost the beccade, although he is used to the leurre. The bird acts like a stupid branchier. Paître un hagard n'est pas si facile."

They have a terrifying handle on language and situational decisiveness, as if Sinna hadn't need to teach them anything at all. They also seem to know things they shouldn't, such as remnants of Sinna's past and the names of Mjfra's numerous siblings. Eo Sul has a strange (though sweet) way of mimicking their parents' appearances: they give themself facial markings resembling Sinna's scales, and a beauty mark near their mouth like Mjfra's. They sometimes look like a perfect mix of the two, what with their natural eye colors and limbal rings, a never before seen occurrence in their race. Sinna would do anything for her child, but it seems they've already gotten the hang of protecting themself. (> eo sul has the average accent other pixies do, knows the language of fae, and their name would directly translate to "star flower") A picture of my Warrior of Light, Sinna Aogane, with her daughter named Namimi Sashihai. Wire, IT'S BEGINNING TO AND BACK AGAIN (1989) Will they say yeah? Will they say no? I haven't written a Designated Cheerleader in, I believe, years. However, I've been pulled back in, Godfather Part Ill-style, by the surprising inclusion of IT'S BEGINNING TO AND BACK AGAIN into the tournament. I feel it's my responsibility to explain this album, to try to get at why I like it and what it means to me, because I fear, rightly or wrongly, I'm the reason it's here in the first place. IBTABA was on my shortlist of all-time favorite 1989 albums, which I provided as one bloc of recommendations. Ten of the thirteen made it in. (You guys couldn't find room for Nitzer Ebb, The Young Gods, or Renegade Soundwave? he asked, ungratefully.) As IBTABA was probably the most obscure of the ten, I needed to step up. So, what is IBTABA? It's Wire's live album derived from the tour supporting their then-latest studio album, A BELL IS A CUP UNTIL IT IS STRUCK. Except.. it's not a live album, at least not how we usually think of them. The band took recordings of performances in Portugal, London, and Chicago, then began wiping them clean, instrument by instrument, track by track, and then rebuilt them in the studio. As Colin Newman explained in the Wire oral history by Kevin S. Eden, Everybody Loves A History, "We literally took the live mult-track, copied them over, and started erasing, apart from the drums, or an odd noise, or a bass line. Whatever we felt we could work with." Paul Stanley of KISS, talking about another album made 14 years previously, might have put it this way: "It was as live as it needed to be." Okay. But why, er? Well, I would submit two possible reasons. One, they're Wire, and have always aggressively marched to the beat of their own drummer their entire career. (Except, uh, when their drummer quit. Bygones!) So the traditional idea of a live-album-as-tour-memorabilia was likely an non-starter with them. Two, according to Newman in History, "at least three-quarters" of the band didn't like A BELL IS A CUP, that it wasn't "spontaneous enough." Despite thinking CUP is a fucking masterpiece, I will put on my critic cap, slip into their shoes, and submit that there is a rigid coldness to the album, possibly from letting the keyboards and synthesizers and guitars that sound like keyboards and synthesizers take the wheel. Closed-off? Overdetermined? I can see that. (I'd also suggest those are its virtues.) IBTABA gave them the chance to re-record some of those tracks, combining the energy and atmosphere of a concert with new, studio-assisted ideas. And looking at it from that vantage point, and listening to the result, it makes sense. CUP is the sound of an impending Anna Kavan-esque ice age, the capitalist world descending into a deep freeze. IBTABA thaws out some of those songs, gets them a little more limber. "Finest Drops" leaves behind the original's seasick rhythm for a something more propulsive and danceable. I daresay these versions of "German Shepherds" and "Public Place" are the best, with "Public Place" still dirge-y, but replaces the "Creep"-style guitar stabs with some pretty flamenco-esque picking, and "German Shepherds" (I believe the third version they'd made at this point) finally blossoming into the song it was meant to be. One of my favorite moments on the album is "Shepherd's "don't start me off" part, which in previous versions just floated by, but here is given space to hit. The synths underneath, that sound like some kind of sampled choir, gives me goosebumps every time. These versions of "It's A Boy" and "Boiling Boy" are great as well, that for me stand side by side with the originals. As the little girl said, "Why not both?" Then there's the bonus tracks. Normally, I'd consider bonus tracks on a tournament album to be non-canon, but every so often there's an album where I consider the bonus tracks to be an integral part of the listening experience. IBTABA is one of those albums. These bonus tracks were not live reclamations, but studio creations. They're also three of Wire's best singles ever. You may have heard "Eardrum Buzz" - they made a supremely silly video for it - but here you get to compare the "Kidney Bingos"-esque studio version to the "live" version, as clear a demonstration as any that Wire hates to repeat themselves. "In Vivo" is pure crystalline dancelfoor ecstasy. But if you were to only listen to one track on the whole album, I'd offer "The Offer," simply the prettiest thing Wire ever recorded, yes, even prettier than "Outdoor Miner," you heard me.

At the top of the target circles it says "$mith's Hit List," and then the circles list different people/things the UCP has targeted, including seniors, education, and health care. At the bottom of the target he has written "Everything Public." ...After I signed, I chatted with this gentleman, who told me he'd spent years (before he retired) as an MLA fighting against fascism, and he wasn't going to stop now. ❤️ A small sense of how busy it was at this signing location (and it wasn't the only one that day, or even at that time of day). In this picture, you can see half of a packed parking lot at a large public park, and three different signing locations: to the right, near a small building with a turquoise roof, in a cluster on the left, halfway up the hill, and on top the hill, at the entrance to the park. Many cars pass through the intersection. It's just a lot of people. The parking lot was so packed, people were parking up and down the green space at the side of the road for lack of overflow, or turned in to the subdivision on the other side and just hoofed it over. Cars occasionally honked in support as they went by, and the actual location was full of people. Walking to and from the park, I heard people telling strangers how happy they were to see such a turnout, and how much more positive it made everyone feel about the state of things here. Also, there were a LOT of dogs. Always a plus as far as I'm concerned. 🐾

I wrote up my thoughts on 7.3 in the wake of it, and now I give them to you.

The investigation section was pretty neat - I think they're desperately trying to get players to engage with the text since the amount of 'didnt read the words' is pretty high in DT. It honestly made me think a bit how we used to scrounge around in the wake of 5.0 for any information we could find from ARR, Heavensward and StB. Necron in this incarnation was two things and that's A) the original schematic for zodiark holy shit B) the damn closest to a primal version of Iosis. Like holy shit like a fucked up Iosis right down to being tarry and black and motivated and summoned Wrong. Also less of an ass pull than in 9 lmao. Genuinely a visually and thematically great fight. In my heart it's like, Ira being faced with a primalised, twisted version of their primordial self. Calyx had no idea what he'd made to face the Traveler - and soon found out that they were something far more terrifying underneath their skin. Getting that Thordan "what are you" moment again was so delicious for me specifically. Danger shota creates a death god casually and then gets to experience Death Themself coming to get his ass and it made me grin with such satisfaction. At the same time there's a pang of Ira's own horror to see that primordial self represented like that. For years I have represented Iosis as the Death Arcana - for the aspect of change. That's why they are what they are, ever changing and never solid. are what they are, ever changing and never solid. It's how Death is expressed as a living thing. It has never been just ends, but beginnings and changes too. What Calyx envisioned is a stagnation. A starved aetherial sea and souls washed and used as fuel while their memories are enshrined as the only part that counts. It is utterly antithetical to not just how I've grown to interpret life and death and change in the game, but also how the game does too. While it was only small, a comment about that stagnation solidified that the Endless and Origenics are truly a twisted and dreadful artificial form of what it means to live and be human (this ties in more with my thoughts about GenAI further down) Rogue ascians! I don't know where they're going with this but I am prepared to find out. Demetrius and Eosphor and Calyx, all Greek names. Demetrius relating to Demeter, goddess of winter (Winterer!!) Eosphor as the morning star Calyx, a part of a flower Pashtarot, Halmarut and Deudalaphon are all unaccounted for. I do think that they are a group of sundered paragons who have decided on an alternative 'rejoining' method. Which is horrifying and honestly like, I kind of enjoy the exploration of all the ways a rejoining could be interpreted and this one is SO MUCH WORSE. I think the turning back on of LM wasn't 'it' but I am happy they addressed the use of regulators and are shutting it down and making Alexandria move forward. I don't think that Year Zero-ing it is the right thing like a lot of folks kept wishing for. At the end of the day XIV is more light-hearted than that -- it's often silly, power of friendship teen anime in tone and looks toward 'what if violence wasn't the answer'. I understand the desire to have revenge or express that anger of the real world into a game but imo these are the same people who expect gritty hardcore out of Steven Universe instead of a gentler 'let's try to be better people'. There was a lot of demand and expectation for Alexandria to be leveled immediately but in how patches and the story is structured, that was always going to be an ongoing situation that would evolve. The more I think about Alexandria the more I think about the critiques of "cozy" and the line where it veers into those beautiful pastoral paintings made by honest to god Naz.is. There is no pain in them and their vision of this is built on horrifying perversions of humanity. And how easy it can be to just let it happen in the wake of strife and war. We as players knew it and could see it. The characters of the Source around us knew it and could see it. But those who've only known that and many who can ONLY know that because of how regulators worked had no hope of knowing otherwise. Admittedly perhaps I enjoy the small comfort of bringing a society that is so fundamentally broken around slowly. Those people didn't know what they don't know - to the point of having no concept of how to question their lives, or even having questions about it. The horror of ignorant complicity; the comfort of forgiveness in the opportunity to do better and grow. I think about the comparisons of living memory and regulators to a society a little further removed from ours. A society reliant on these systems like tech oligarchs wish us to be ever more reliant on LLMs and generative AI prone to hallucinations and lies. I think of Endless Sphene and it reminds me, on a larger and more fantasy scale, the things I've seen GenAI do first hand. When the group approached and said they want to learn and know and do things for themselves, that's when it really clicked that it wasn't just a superficial, accidental vibe I got about the similarities of that aspect of Alexandria. They haven't learned and they don't remember what others taught them. They do the effect of asking chatgpt how to do anything. I think king babyman is truly much like his father. I hope that he gets a gentler upbringing and is always told to not bear the kind of burden in his mind than his father had. It's so easy to become a Vergil, and with his family and support structure as the youngest, instead of eldest, he'll have a much better chance. Also what if he had a growth spurt before the twins. What then lmao.

Killer Moth went through some different designs while I was drawing him; in this continuity, Drury is a CRIMINAL lawyer, where he is able to get his clients out of a lot of messy situations, but it does depend on how extreme the situation is, or whether Drury is being lazy or not about the case, this makes him either liked or disliked in Gotham, depends on who you ask. Anyways, Originally I was going to base Killer Moth off of Mothman... Because moths. But I realized a lot of my designs were dark and creepy, and while this Killer Moth is definitely more competent than other versions, while still being a goofball, I did want a bit of his costume to reflect his feelings about the costumed vigilantes and villains as a whole: that they're ridiculous. So I decided to give his classic look a bit of a revision, with the biggest change being his wings no longer extended out, but rather they're forming like a cape, like Batman's. This is for two reasons: I still had that Mothman inspiration... But also I just didn't want to spend all that time figuring out wings. I was also going to go with a darker color scheme too, but eventually it all came back to the classic orange and purple we all know Killer Moth to have! Clayface is based on two things: the Wendigo, a vicious creature from Algonquian folklore, and SCP-096, or 'The Shy Guy.' I also based this guy on a Batfeed video, much like Mr. Freeze, but this time it was based on the Clayface Arkham Tapes episode, which I highly recommend y'all to watch! The coloring is based on 'The Batman' [2004] and put all of this together and you have a pretty scary look on Clayface. I always felt Clayface works better with horror, and I mean true body-horror kind of action, because imagine turning into THIS thing? Don't have much lore besides the basics for Basil: washed up actor, tried killing his co-stars, eventually becoming an inmate of Arkham Asylum to which Hugo Strange would experiment and eventually turn Karlo into... This. When designing Azrael, I wanted to do Jean-Paul and save Michael Lane for a later time, mainly because I know more about Jean than I do Michael, also I just think Jean-Paul looks cooler and has more of a staying power. So I of course based Azrael off his original appearance, as well as crusaders that fought in their Holy Wars, or in modern terms: Father from BreadBoys. I was close to giving Azrael a crusader helmet, but in the end I decided against it because I feel Azrael's cloaked, hooded design is simply too iconic than to put a simple iron or steel helmet on the dude and his silhouette. The coloring was pretty challenging as I wanted to go for that all-red look with touches of gold but I didn't want to make it *too* much red, if that makes sense? But I think the darker red for the boots and arm wraps made for a great separation from the red bodysuit underneath, and of course we have all of the gold aligning Azrael's body... Also I just want to point out that if the anatomy is weird... Well, I'm still learning anatomy, but also I WAS going to draw Azrael's flaming sword... But got lazy at the last minute. I'll draw it in later drawings, though! Hush sucks. Unless he's written by Paul Dini. But, Hush is still iconic in terms of design, and if this Batman is Dieselpunk with bits of Steampunk, Victorian era stuff... Then, I have to include Jack The Ripper, right? Well then there lied the issue: what about Hush? They're... kind of similar with their crimes? Not really? But they got the murders in random parts of the city down I suppose. Anyways, enough of me trying to loosely pin these two together, I figured if I'm going to have Jack, I needed to sacrifice Hush, but I was more than willing to make Hush... Jack The Ripper. Design wise, very much inspired by the look Jack has in Assassin's Creed Syndicate; in fact when I first saw the design my first reaction was: 'holy shit, it's Hush.' And the rest was history. I still wrapped his entire body in bandages, and gave him the classic color scheme of the original Hush to ensure the vision was still there. I will say, it would still be pretty easy to pinpoint who he is, because who else would use a scalpel that big for murders?

In it I talk about seeing Brian Wilson perform "Pet Sounds" live in 2017. It was one of the most moving concert-going experiences of my life. Not for what was on the surface but for what was underneath. #Love&Mercy www.cupofcoffeenews.com/cup-of-coffe...
But it was not Wilson's voice that set the night apart. It was the mere act of him being on that stage singing those songs despite everything I and everyone else in that room knew about his life and his experiences which elevated his performance above that of his increasingly vanishing contemporaries and vanishingly few peers. I don’t begrudge The Rolling Stones, The Who, or Paul McCartney going out on the road and playing concerts into their 80s. They’re legends. People love them and their music. They put on great shows and, of course, they’re more than entitled to make money off of the art they created. But there has always been something . . . off about it to me. There has always been something off about Mick Jagger singing about how he can’t get no satisfaction when we know that he’s rarely had anything but satisfaction for the past 50 or 60 years of his life. There’s something silly about Roger Daltrey singing that he hopes he dies before he gets old when he’s already old. There’s something downright creepy about a wrinkly-faced Paul McCartney telling us that we know what he means about that girl who’s just 17. One might think that this problem would've been even greater for Wilson doing “Pet Sounds,” actually. It's an album about young romance and that time in a young person's life when love transforms from crushes and butterflies in one’s stomach to something bigger. Something that, inevitably, brings about one’s first feelings of melancholy. "Pet Sounds" is an album which evokes emotions common to anyone who has ever experienced love, but those feelings tend to be unique to a certain time and place in our lives that we will never again recapture. That’s not the stuff one would expect to wear well when sung by a 70-something year old man over 50 years after he wrote the words. Despite his age, however, there was something poignant about Wilson singing from the point of view of his younger self that night that is absent or even off-putting from his peers. We tend to expect art to stand on its own, without the audience bringing their own knowledge about the artist with them, but that was impossible when it cam to Brian Wilson. Anyone who cares about him or his music knows what his life was like at the time “Pet Sounds” was recorded. We know how much more difficult his life would become in the two decades-plus after it came out and how damaged Wilson came out on the other end due to his self abuse and abuse at the hands of others. Jagger, McCartney and Daltrey have all had their personal ups and downs but compared to Wilson they’ve lived pretty happy and contented lives. In light of this, their taking to the road seems like a pleasant but somewhat superfluous and undoubtedly commercial act. Wilson didn’t have the same sort of happy and contended second and third public acts as those guys. He never got the chance to connect with his old songs and his old fans in the same way they have. And given that his former bandmates Mike Love and Bruce Johnston had long toured as The Beach Boys, playing the band's biggest hits in theaters, state fairs and other venues with relatively low ticket prices, a lot of Wilson's old fans might not have even cared too much about seeing him anymore. As such, Wilson’s act of singing his old songs — especially the "Pet Sounds" songs, which were never as commercially successful as the stuff Love and Johnston perform — seemed more personal to him. More important and significant. I was likely projecting to some degree – carrying in baggage that he likely wished I hadn't – but as Wilson sang through “Pet Sounds” that night it seemed to me as if he was reaching back through time for something that, for years, was just out of his reach. Something he didn’t get to fully enjoy and explore at the time and something he could finally enjoy and explore in that setting. Something necessary. It was a great show for me, but I couldn't help but feel that it was a rewarding and perhaps necessary act for Wilson to play these songs. Necessary in ways it’s simply not necessary for his peers to play their old songs. This may have been most evident in the opening and closing of the show when, as a warmup/encore, prior to and after playing the "Pet Sounds" songs, he played some of the more popular Beach Boys songs like “Help me Rhonda” and “California Girls,” with his old bandmate Al Jardine doing an admirable job with the Mike Love vocals. They were perfectly fine renditions, but they were somewhat rote. The crowd stood, cheered and sang along, but Wilson seemed to be going through the motions with them to some degree. The big hits didn't seem particularly important to Wilson. The “Pet Sounds” songs, which were played in order, in their entirety after an intermission, felt more moving and stirring. And not just because they’re better songs. It was because, with the possible exceptions of “Wouldn’t it be Nice?” a lot of people in the theater didn’t know all the words them. And even if they did, they weren't exactly jukebox singalongs. Because of that those songs provided an opportunity for Wilson to sing and perform for us in ways that McCartney and the Stones can’t without resorting to obscure R&B covers due to the ubiquity of their catalogues. People know “Pet Sounds,” of course, but it’s not back-of-their-hand stuff like “Maybe I’m Amazed” or “Brown Sugar.” As a result, Wilson was reacquainting many in the crowd with those songs just as he was revisiting them himself. The net effect of it was stirring. Stirring in and of itself, yes, but also stirring because the man singing the songs was, in 2017, still there. Against all odds, in spite of all of his experiences, and despite the loss of his two bandmate brothers and so many other people, he was still there. He was there reaching back for something one got the sense that he loved and needed just as much if not more than any of us did. It was a special night. Brian Wilson was a special person. May he now find the peace that, for so much of his life, eluded him.

They have a cute little side smile. The three together represent the Trans Pride flag colours, and the tarot card Temperance, which in the Rider-Waite tarot deck has an angel pouring out water. Here, I have turned the water into magic liquid that makes mocktails. I love these three. So much. Morning walk at Kapueokahi today. A family's set up for a big graduation lū'au and a couple of the bay cats found somebody's food sitting on the table!

There was a hula ritual that I took of picture of even though I didn't ask permission. It was lovely, though.

A large tent pavilion is set up with picnic tables underneath and ferns attached to each post. Many, many 5 gallon buckets full of tropical flowers are nearby to further decorate closer to the event. Masu, who grew up in Hāna, said, "It looks so ugly these days!" (!) He told me about when he was young when there were men from the community who would build a bamboo structure about 10' tall for lū'aus. The tent wasn't measuring up to his memory, and no wonder! I love the luxury of being in this community as it is today (still a throw-back in time, and actually a fraction of the size of the sugar cane time) with the backdrop of all of Masu's stories, painting the picture of life in east Maui in the 30s, 40s, and 50s. The community of cats at the bay have a pretty good life. Unsurprisingly, there is a woman who feeds them most morning but I'm sure they could survive quite well without her food. Across the bay, you see Waikoloa beach, a black pebble beach. Locals enjoy parking under the trees and camping on that beach. If you look at a map, you'll see Nānu 'Alele Point at the tip. Every morning, a 67 year old man bikes down to the bay and swims from the bay to the point and back, even when the water is brown, or rough. Amazing. I once read on a tourist site about Hāna Bay (Kapueokahi): "While it’s not a very exciting beach to stop at, it gets the job done if you’re looking for a beach to visit in the area." I think if you're planning on visiting the bay with that thought in mind, stay away. The history of Queen Ka'ahumanu and King Kamehameha alone make the bay far, far more than something that "gets the job done" for checking off the box of visiting a beach in the area. A woman in a hula dress and lei headband or haku is dancing a hula on lava rocks with ferns and palm trees as a backdrop. There are two kāhili (feather standards) between the woman and the sea. A man sits by watching.

There is only a small holographic cupcake sticker visible. The rest of the page has a text border with JOKES HA HA HA. It also has the answer to the joke on the other page: There are footprints in the Jello. (In the lower right corner is a drawing of a bowl of red Jello with an elephant footprint.) This page has a giant orange smiley sticker (that looks yellow here, but I assure you, it is neon orange) and a slightly smaller but still large green smiley sticker that is licking its lips.
