Was considering converting to 700c wheels but the stock 27” Araya rims are laced to buttery smooth Suntour sealed hubs that cleaned up exceptionally well. Amazing condition for 40 year old hubs, won’t need a rebuild until Christ himself returns to do the job.

I bought some cheap Suntour barcon parts a while ago at Mr Michaels Recycles Bicycles. They were all scratched up & missing nuts & bolts. They cleaned up well. With some replacement 4mm hardware from Menards, they're back in business. Still missing the slotted lock nuts but I'll find some one day.

Best way to convert downtube to brifters on a bike with no downtube mounts?
Hello, im currently working on this 80s panasonic, pretty new to doing my own bike work. It had some suntour downtubes on it, and i got some shimano adapters to give it a place to route through for a conversion to brifters. I of course took off the downtubes and realized that there were no holes in the frame and it was all one piece clamped down. What is the best way to finish this conversion? PX10’s drivetrain all set up and dialed in. Kept it French with a front derailleur from Sachs Huret, same model as on my 1985 PGN10. Freewheel is a vintage Suntour 5 speed on a Campy hub.

Consider this: TONS of bikes used to come with the stem-mounted Suntour Power Shifter, typically mounted on an alloy SR stem. That combo caused the stem height to be maxed out by default. Customers would DIY raise the bars--we'd then show them the warning markers put the bars back down.
