One of these years I need to sign up for/participate in The Great Saunter. It's a 32 mile walk around Manhattan and I love seeing the walkers come down my block.

One of these years I need to sign up for/participate in The Great Saunter. It's a 32 mile walk around Manhattan and I love seeing the walkers come down my block.

Fort Tryon Park was more crowded than usual today. Turns out today is the day of the Great Saunter, a 32-mile hike around the rim of Manhattan organized by Shorewalkers and held since 1985. Does the name come from Thoreau? I haven't been able to figure that out yet. shorewalkers.org/great-saunter/

It’s the Great Saunter with Shorewalkers NYC. We walk around the perimeter of Manhattan in one day. I did it last year and am still questioning why I signed up again!
