The bigger eucomis. This is one we planted several years ago next to a rose. The stalks on this one are about 2’ tall. Strappy green leaves about 4’ in diameter.
Pollinators love all the wee flowers.

Definitely a focal point…

🌱💛 LIKE BUTTER IN A SEA OF BLUE.💙 Anemonoides
(syn. Anemone) x lipsiensis (Yellow Wood Anemone) shares the stage with Scilla siberica. This butter-yellow suncatcher, a vigorous hybrid of A. nemorosa & A. ranunculoides, just blooms and blooms.😃 Ranunculaceae & Asparagaceae, subfamily Scilloideae.

💙🤍🌱DARE TO BE DIFFERENT in a Sea of Sameness.😎 This Scilla siberica has decided to make its own statement. The white cv 'alba' is also sold. Though not necessarily a specific clone, name can apply generally to albino forms. I also have some in pale powder blue. Asparagaceae, subfamily Scilloideae

🌱💙HEALING BLUES. Puschkinia scilloides, veiled in ethereal turquoise highlights & softened by hazy sunshine, gives safe haven to a tiny friend.🪲 A fascinating favorite, & only member of Asparagaceae, subfamily Scilloideae, with a corona like a Narcissus (Daffodil)!😎

Hyacinth plants are not edible and should be considered toxic. There are edible members of the Scilloideae family though, like the Tassel Hyancith (Leopoldia comosa)! This simple soup can be made quickly and with or without the pastry topping. Enjoy the (edible only) flowers!

> Lachenalia viridiflora is blooming!

> The amazing turquoise color of the flowers is a crowd-pleaser! Lachenalia was formerly placed in the family Hyacinthaceae, but it is now put in the subfamily Scilloideae within the Asparagus Family.

oh gosh now i'm in wikipedia going through the taxonomy.

both are order "Asparagales" family "Asparagaceae"

the agave is the subfamily "Agavoideae" whereas asparagus is the subfamily "Asparagoideae". so, cousins seems apt!

also there's subfamily "Scilloideae" the hyacinths! also hella-cool!
Here are some grape hyacinth, a lovely spring flower
