Where can I vote for that? I think we should have a referendum for that. Then he will be in shackles.

The 1995 Quebec referendum must mystify you. "Where I am from, speaking French is a geste politique. A gesture of resistance. One that says nous sommes, nous serons — we are, we will be." www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
Smashing the ‘two solitudes’ in an era of Quebec’s Bill 96
Bill 96 dishonours our legacy, the lessons we — as francophones — have learned with great pain over the centuries of Canada’s colonial history.

I addressed it directly, rather. 2024 was - among other things - a referendum on authenticity. Biden obviously lost - he ended his own political career by debating Trump. More importantly, Harris and Walz lost.

Fetterman is the real deal. He doesn't care what the sociopathic left thinks of him.

The race is on for someone in the #nzpol left (Greens or Labour?) to announce a “solar levy” of $8.50 a year to provide the exact same outcome to kiwis as the $30 gas tax the govt is creating.

I know which I’d vote for.

Make the election a referendum on renewable energy.

You’d smash the govt.
Government’s plan to import LNG for electricity generation would cost households and businesses up to $8.3bn

Same volume of electricity could be delivered through a $2.5b investment in rooftop solar panels and hot water heat pumps

"The reality is, ..., chaos and collapse is not something they fear but rather aim to create. The Brexit debate, Trump, the Voice referendum, climate change, Israel’s genocide, and many other events involve one side which actively desires collapse – and is ready to profit from it."

So, you WOULD support people under a hypothetical future US communist system having a referendum to see whether they like communism, or if they want to go back to capitalism?

I'm sorry to bring this up, but I can't get past media's role in the Brexit referendum. The Maitlis McTaggart speech highlighted the preposterous false equivalence of the BBC. In addition, we have a largely RW press & journos are cowed. The 4th estate is mostly no longer honourable.

… claim anything from GE votes. Many who voted in the Brexit referendum ‘famously’ never vote in elections. There is, and always was, more than one issue in every election. The 2017 election, produced a mixed picture wrt Brexit & other issues of the time. And also, there is no UK electorate..

Alberta Separation: Realities and Solutions
In early 2026, the conversation around Alberta separation has shifted from a fringe internet movement to a tangible political event, with Elections Alberta approving a petition for a referendum. For many Albertans, this is about a feeling of "status loss" and the perception that their province—the engine of Canada's economy—is being managed for decline by a distant federal government. However, as the debate intensifies, a massive gap remains between the romanticized idea of independence and the "cold math" of reality.
