thinking about it again. i know these movies are PG13 because fnaf is big with the kids but holy shit i think not showing like any detail to the kills really dampens the scare factor of these movies. also the animatronics' eyes turning EVIL RED when theyre about to kill is so goofy it takes me out

There are plenty of horror pictures that aren't dull just cause their old, and a lot of new horror is smart and scary, not just PG13 and vapid.

Predator is one of those rare cases where i think it can and should dip into both pg13 and r ratings from time to time because the Yautja are pretty cool and I think kids would have a fun time watching movies about them.
Predator Badlands was really fun!
Action was great, leads were great, everything was great.
Obviously it sucks a little that it’s not a visceral R rated blood fest, but that’s not the story they wanted to tell and I’m ok with that.
Recommend.

I think part of it is that horror is used as a career launcher - horror movies are cheap, usually make money and can give filmmakers a much needed 'first try' with a real shoot. For that, I will stomach bloodless PG13 broad horror.
