Have been serving the kids tomato and avo “sashimi” for ages. Recently with my green shiso success I’ve moved on. Next is another round of 冷やしトマト as these Chef’s Choice tomatoes are the closest I’ve had to Momotaro tomatoes. And I love the chilled tomatoes with shiso and dashi soy sauce

When I was a kid I had a storybook of Momotaro. I know it's not how it works in every version, but in mine Momotaro offers to share his rice balls with the animals he encounters, turning potential enemies into friends. He tries the same with the oni, and they reject his offer. That stuck with me
