#methane-converting
560 ppm CO₂ equivalent
The "equivalent" means converting the effect of other greenhouse gasses to the amount of CO₂ that would cause the same heating, then adding that to the current CO₂ (~425ppm)

Main two are methane & nitrous oxide.

Have you considered getting a propane tank and converting your appliances from methane in order to be able to get rid of the gas connection?

@newyorktimes newest article about climate change was interesting. The authors Raymond Zhong and Giacomo d'Orlando scuba dived with scientists to explore if microbes, ocean tree bark, can mitigate climate change by converting methane into less harmful biomass. #CCSUJOURNALISM #NEWSENGAGEMENTDAY

1. Natural Gas sites (if already flared no change to CO2)

2. Landfill sites (convert methane to CO2, electricity)

if landfill is not already converting methane….the reduction is here..?

As Ira has said - flaring is already converting methane to CO2. So the emissions remain the same (not an 80x reduction)

In Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island, a first-of-its kind project is transforming cow manure into hydrogen fuel. Extracting methane from manure and converting it into hydrogen powers the local farms, industrial vehicles, and even a local zoo.

The very, very, very, very dodgy trick of saying that *avoiding potential emissions* is the same as *removing emissions from the atmosphere* is pretty common throughout the worst polluters, and recently Bitcoin people have learned to do the same thing:

Climate change is a health emergency. Also LNG production increases cancer and other disease rates in local communities, pipelines leak, converting methane to LNG causes lots of pollution in nearby communities. It harms people all along the route, so producers can ship it overseas and make money.
I'm not here—I'm on vacation!—but I must pop in to say: the DOE letter calling increased methane gas exports “neither sustainable nor advisable" is a VERY, VERY BIG DEAL.

This is the first time a Dem administration has come out against expanding a fossil fuel!

Scientists Achieve Direct Conversion of Methane to Acetic Acid Under Mild Conditions
In a groundbreaking advancement that could revolutionize the chemical industry and natural gas utilization, researchers have unveiled a novel catalytic system capable of directly converting methane into acetic acid under remarkably mild conditions. This innovation addresses one of the longstanding challenges in catalysis: activating the robust C–H bonds of methane and facilitating its transformation into valuable multi-carbon oxygenates with high selectivity and efficiency.

During a solo mission, Robin is transported to Titans Tower.

An organism from another dimension is converting Earth's atmosphere into methane and it's up to the Teen Titans to save the world.

But Robin is confused.

Titans Tower doesn't exist nor does he recognize his new teammates.

"But according to energy experts, converting clean energy into hydrogen just to use that hydrogen to generate more electricity later is, in most cases, a bad idea."

Not just experts. Anyone not in the methane/natural gas biz. Anyone can see how dumb this is.

one of several silly games I played with myself while writing my thesis was interlinking silly footnotes.

I had one footnote in an appendix that just read "Duh!" and I referred to it whenever I made an obvious statement (e.g. "uncompensated resistance is called that because it is not compensated.")
