#mamoths
RIP to all those Pygmy mamoths that were sacrificed to create the outlines of all those cave drawings before they filled the rest in with soot grime and blood by our cavemen ancestors.

That's because the warm embers allowed them to wake up to mamoths.

Yep, Asia. The last population of mamoths that died were those of Wrangel island in Siberia, around 4000 years BC.

Should NY and CA withhold their taxes to the federal gov?
Let's see how he will manage the rest without the financial mamoths.

I am rationing them! I haven't read Mamoths at the Gate yet! It's for an emergency!

(emergency = I need to read something better than what I've been getting on libby lmao)

We can do both

We're not talking of bring back mamoths here.. just planting old seeds

WE HAVE TO KILL THE WOOLY MAMOTHS

For me, 100 men probably can take a gorilla because... we aren't gorillas bitches are we?

Not saying it's easy, that a shit town don't die or that it's trivial.

But I'm pretty sure it didn't take 100 men to deal with mamoths, large felines or anything arguably worse when we went out and hunted.

Really nice piece (and loves the part on mamoths 😄)
May 5, 2025 at 5:49 PM
Our ancestors hunted mamoths of course we could beat a damn gorilla
May 2, 2025 at 10:53 PM
So true. I was concerned with them doi g this what issues they would have cuz direwolves are ment to be big. It could hurt their development.

They wanna do mamoths too and they would die of heat if they came back. Like they could never survive!

im so disillusioned by pop-sci that i think its neat but i know that there is other shit going on and like- sure, direwolves now what?
mamoths, now what? are they really the extinct animals or is it just the same as an elephant with different genetic expressions

its geuinely interesting but

Also a pity to have finance directed at mamoths & not current species #extinction. We reflect on the Future of Conservation survey, the ethical stances underpinning the motivations for #biodiversity #conservation. We highlight what is missing in this debate www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Who else longs to see some kind of modern-day reconceptualized version of Transarctica (Also called Arctic Baron)? Running cargo between domed megacities on your train, fighting off pirates riding mamoths, deploying biplanes from catapults...

China Miéville's Railsea but snowy.
March 30, 2025 at 3:53 AM
WAIT. i dont think mars is a good habitat for wooly mamoths...
March 12, 2025 at 2:08 PM
is it even ethical to clone mamoths at this point?
March 5, 2025 at 12:11 AM
We can't even provide safety to our elephants and where will you keep these Mamoths? Now you have hairy mice shedding all over your home. Don't bring them to florida. Or make smaller anacondas to be able to coexist and make your fucking idiotic waste of time efficient. Unless you learned something.
March 4, 2025 at 11:58 PM
While I am not at all sure bringing back woolly mamoths is a good idea, the mouse is pretty cute.

Wonder what it's temperament is like?
March 4, 2025 at 10:31 PM
Extinction of Elephants is because of humans. We will create Wooly Mamoths only to have Trophy Hunters shoot them. Creating more animals when we have not fixed humanity will not help. Elephants are running out of land because of humans. Wooly Mammoths I fear will not fare better.
