After sharing a bark collage a few weeks ago and seeing how much you enjoyed it, I thought I’d share some more. Close details from Anglesey Abbey last weekend, where bark, lichen and fungi create endlessly varied patterns.

Day 34 of my Sabbatical.

The delights of spring are always uplifting.

Everything in life has a crazy twist.

We don’t know how much we’ve grown until we look back.

Will always feel like home… grew up in a small town with loamy Oregon forest as my backyard, littered w/ decaying trees felled by wind & man, endless varieties of moss, lichen, fungi, fir needles, and moisture… a creek def burbling nearby, all criss crossed by animal trails and old loggin’ roads.
One of the things I enjoy about the PNW where I live...after a really heavy rain, everything smells damp and earthy. Reminds me of camping in the middle of the woods up in the mountains. It smells like that today.

It feels like a slow start to my
2026 #LadybirdYearList! 🐞

2️⃣ Heather Ladybird (Chilocorus bipustulatus) in a nearby churchyard.

It was in such an awkward place for a photo on the underside of a gravestone - but well protected from the seemingly incessant rain. Good job! ☔️

Oakmoss growing on a small stick. There are a few other lichen and moss also growing on it and probably some fungi too.
