#janeausten’s
#JaneAusten's work is remarkable, not just for the quality of the finished product, but the diligence with which she reshaped her drafts. Unlike many contemporaries who produced work relatively quickly, Austen was known for her careful craft, a method that often spanned years.

In advance of my interview with Deborah Moggarch on Wednesday:
The 2005 adaptation of #JaneAusten's #PrideandPrejudice remains a hot topic. Some love its modern energy and breathtaking cinematography, while others argue its Americanisation strays far from the novel’s essence. What are your thoughts?

"I cannot make speeches, Emma... If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more."

📖 #OTD in the #History of #Literature 23 December 1815, #JaneAusten's classic novel EMMA was first published by John Murray in London, with the incorrect publication date of 1816.

Can I just say, I re-read #janeausten’s Emma & I dislike Emma. It’s firmly #prideandprejudice #senseandsensability or #presuasion for me.

In #MarlonJames’ words “She knew what time it was.” Agree with @afuahirsch.bsky.social too - I appreciate the political bent of Austen more.

It was on the 20th of December 1817, mere months after #JaneAusten's passing, that both Northanger Abbey and Persuasion were published.
-Which of these works is your favourite?
-Do you have a favourite character or scene from each?

On this 250th anniversary of #JaneAusten's birth, here is my mom's copy of Pride & Prejudice that she gave me when I was 8. I loved it so much, I got in trouble with my 4th grade teacher for reading it under my desk! Well Mrs. F, I am now an author myself! Also don't miss Wild for Austen!

Waltz like Jane Austen?
The music sheet for the “Lady Caroline Lee's Waltz” was part of #JaneAusten's library.
We don't know if she ever danced this waltz.
Nevertheless, let's enjoy the music.

Born 250 years ago today in 1775, #JaneAusten's words have inspired readers for over two centuries — including Derbyshire’s own L. du Garde Peach. Here’s a glimpse of Peach’s typed play script "Jane Austen", part of his “Famous Men and Women” series, broadcast on radio around 1938. #JaneAusten250

Thanks. I try to remember those #booksand #BookSky hashtags! And that's a great title, "Overdue Book Reviews." I should apply that to my recent Goodreads reviews of #JaneAusten's "Sense & Sensibility" & #EdithWharton's "The Buccaneers"

This view, looking south from a window in St Michael's, Enborne, will have changed very little from the time #JaneAusten's friend Martha Lloyd attended services here, taken by her father Rev. Noyes Lloyd in the late C18th.
