I share my birthday with a date of profound historical significance.
81 years ago today, on the 27th of January 1945, Auschwitz was liberated.
This art is based on the poem, "The Butterfly," written in 1942 by Pavel Friedmann while imprisoned.
Pavel died in 1944 in Auschwitz.

I'm delighted to share my interview with the celebrated Director, Brian Percival, exploring his career, with a focus on how his northern roots have inspired him to tell northern stories, and the timeless appeal of the past.

#JaneAusten's work is remarkable, not just for the quality of the finished product, but the diligence with which she reshaped her drafts. Unlike many contemporaries who produced work relatively quickly, Austen was known for her careful craft, a method that often spanned years.

In advance of my interview with Deborah Moggarch on Wednesday:
The 2005 adaptation of #JaneAusten's #PrideandPrejudice remains a hot topic. Some love its modern energy and breathtaking cinematography, while others argue its Americanisation strays far from the novel’s essence. What are your thoughts?

How many countless individuals... have read Austen’s works for over 250 years? And yet, it is her sister, Cassandra, who was the first to read them... seeing evolving versions of those stories that were shared only between them. What a singular and significant honour she had.

"In short, Austen’s small world provided the ideal foundation from which to portray the rest of it with her pen, and through this carefully researched and honed authenticity, to give voice to other women, making her world extraordinarily universal."

In winter we lead a more inward life. Our hearts are warm and cheery, like cottages under drifts, whose windows and doors are half concealed, but from whose chimneys the smoke cheerfully ascends.

Next month, I'll be in London for just one night, and I want to treat myself to a show. These two options have caught my eye for different reasons. Which one should I choose?
