because it sounds to me like the logic behind the prenup absolutely is "hey we both have inheritances, we shouldn't have a right to each other's inheritance, we should just split the money we make together since we'll be fine financially after a divorce"
right
that's what it sounds like to me

All the young icee agents will be glad to have power in Minnesota, supplied by Canadian generation, to play video games online in the motel rooms.

Mom’s basements, sad divorcee apartments, & trailer park inheritances will be without power for days tonight through Monday. Fuck red states!

Maryland's inheritance tax is subtle discriminator, writes Steven Messmer: Most people can avoid paying the 10% tax on inheritances by leaving it to a spouse, child, grandchild or sibling, but that's not an option for those with no children or family.

A bunch of old rich unelected peers blocking democracy so their offspring can’t get their inheritances too early.
EXC - MPs and peers who backed the assisted dying bill now believe it is “near impossible” for it to pass the House of Lords in time because of procedural obstacles used by opponents.

“It is our system at its absolute most dysfunctional,” one MP said.

CONFESSION: we’re tired of reading about rich people drama 🥱

The book world is oversaturated with stories about luxury vacations + family inheritances. But as the real-world wealth gap grows wider every day, we figure it’s time to highlight the books that show how the other half lives 📚

Henri de Montherlant's The Bachelors (1934) may be the most Balzacian novel written since Balzac's death. Full of despicable characters, bickering over inheritances, money-grubbing, degradation, and humiliation.

My parents are 75 and 73 (divorced/both remarried) and the only reason they have any wealth is because of inheritances from my grandparents. My mom doesn't own property, just a couple of aging cars.
(My inlaws OTOH are pretty well off.)

I was, like, in my 40s before I realized "windfall" originally referred to fruit, not lottery winnings and inheritances.

I was equally astonished to realize that "a lot" is a metaphor. ("Vacant lot" is pretty much the only time we use the word "lot" anymore, though.)

Also, the "plot" of a book.
