It's about engaging with people who call this city home, and those who wil come ot experience ti for the f… SPOTLIGHT: Resilient By Nature, Stronger through Sport In recognition of the resilience that drives the Games, LA28 will launch the Resilient by Nature initiative, a program to invest in a more resilient Los Angeles while demonstrating models and best practices that can help drive global action. Resilient by Nature will deploy a range of tools - from grantmaking to volunteerism to educational campaigns - to pursue positive impacts across focus areas tied to the land, water and sun that make the Games possible: Focus Areas: • Wildfire Resilience and Nature Restoration: Coming out of the devastating 2025 wildfires, LA28 will support projects that help build greater wildfire resilience and restore nature, such as planting fire resilient native plants or pursuing bio-remediation. Ocean Protection: With the Pacific Ocean as the iconic backdrop to sports like Sailing and Beach Volleyball, LA28 will support replicable solutions that enhance ocean health, such as beach cleanups or kelp restoration. • Cooling Solutions: In the lead-up to welcoming the world in the height of summer, LA28 will support projects that help keep Los Angeles cool, such as native tree planting or shade structures. Resilient by Nature will be anchored by the LA28 Community Resilience Fund, which will provide grants to local nonprofits to support projects across all three focus areas. The Fund will launch by early 2026 to ensure that projects begin well before the Games. LA28 will announce additional elements of the initiative in the lead up to 2028 and provide a comprehensive update in the Impact and Sustainability Pre-Games Report. Resilient by Nature will deepen collaboration between LA28, local nonprofit organizations, local government and LA28's commercial partners, leveraging the Games to increase investment in building a more resilient Los Angeles. CO2 from burning forests is not part of the natural carbon cycle. It's foreign-cycle CO2. Fossil CO2 is only parked temporarily in trees and raises GMT🌡️once released.

We are writing regarding the Forest Service HRM guidance sent out on May 8, 2025, announcing interim caps on premium pay for Forest Service employees on fire assignments. The NFFE Forest Service Council (NFFE-FSC) worked with Congress to ensure that up to $9,000 of premium pay was authorized in the Continuing Resolution passed this February. NFFE-FSC is prepared to file a national grievance and take other legal action, if necessary, should the Forest Service attempt to withhold the premium pay that our members have earned and are legally owed. To ensure that we are prepared, NFFE-FSC recommends that all employees track any days that they are prevented from claiming premium pay because of the interim cap on premium pay. Some glitches in the NFC system may soon be resolved in the next several weeks, in which we are told this will be temporary. Please contact your Local to alert them if you are prevented from claiming premium pay before reaching the $9,000 annual cap. We hope that this guidance will be rescinded before that occurs. NFFE and the Forest Service Council will fight to make sure that backpay is provided quickly in the event any employees are prevented from claiming the premium pay they have earned. Feeling bad atm. So i followed an advice i got and wrote something. Don't even know what type it is. But i just wrote my heart out. Feels like i wrote it to get something out of my chest.
Smoke Normally an unpleasant smell. Sticks to clothing, it hinders the sight. It spreads fear, but also creates memories. Be it a fire, a campfire or the cigarette. Its still the same smoke. For some it brings back horrible memories, other view it as nostalgic. Why ist it like this? 1 miss the days with smoke in the air. Never an addiction, and iam no pyromane. It's who i spent it with. The cold winter air, the fresh spring smell. Maybe even the warm summer or cool autumn. A day on the terrace. The puzzling over a riddle or the read papers: Be it digital or analogue. Working in the garden. The smoke was always there. Be it a fire, the barbecue or the cigarette. Litle variation. When shopping at a market you always asked for a small packet. It turned into a routine of sorts. The packet never lasted long, be it a long break or the warm day. Last time we bought one, you were happy we remembered. Yet you couldo't smoke it. The smoke has always covered smells. It left an imprint on so many breaks. The smoke that many hate, is the smoke i want to smell again. I ain't no smoker, never was. It's not about the campfire or the cigarette. It's about the time shared. The very same packet we bought at the market, is st.ill waiting. After days it fell over maybe once. After months it caught dust. And after the few years past, it stll remalned, yet you haven't.
