In the Pewter City Pokemart in Gen 1, there is an NPC complaining that he was ripped off by a Magikarp salesman. But if you visit the same building in Gen 2, you can find the same person bragging about a Gyarados he's trained.

Garchomps, Gyarados with Freeze Dry, there's a few Lucario's here and there but they're frail so Ice Beam can still do damage
Not to mention Zygardes and Rayquazas that both do not like Ice type moves lol

I mostly name my magikarps/gyarados after food [well. In general my whole team after food or a certain theme]

i think the exp share in pokemon creates the opposite problem a lot of times! there’s no risk to power leveling “zero to hero” pokemon like gyarados and gardevoir by just having them sit in the back so they end up completely obsoleting pokemon who are strong instantly before falling off

i love pokemon's battle mechanics but i would NEVER EVER EVER use a buffing move unless it was d-dance on gyarados

especially if it's a mon that has a steep exp curve like gyarados, that poor guy is going to be stuck lagging behind forever. And yeah I guess I could box everyone else and grind wild zones with just the mon I want to train but I resent having to and that leaves me pretty exposed as well
