Bouie keeps getting slammed for these sensible and sober minded Takes because there are people who've come to see anything short of maximal Doomerism as somehow complacency - you're saying I *shouldn't* feel maximally bad!??? Yet it is obvious on reflection that maximal doomerism breeds complacency.
There are places where Trump, as president, has broad freedom of action. And there are places where Trump, as president, has been able to act unilaterally because the main point of opposition, Congress (and SCOTUS), support his program. (1/?)

yeah pretty much every organized exercise/sports activity I've ever done gave you some kind of medal or ribbon or patch just for showing up, but we only clutch pearls when it's little league soccer for some reason

I think it’s kind of gross that the first assumption in the screencapped headline is “mean mean heartless protestors are using babies as meat shields” and not “can’t exactly arrange a babysitter when you’re fighting for your life”

Doesn't help that both tiktok and reels make it almost impossible to pause or rewind and automatically load the next thing before you even have a moment to process what you just saw

it's such a pain in the ass to consume video based content too. I can read much faster than you can talk. and now need to worry about having headphones or bothering the people around you.
