#furigana
The name of that Digimon is "V龍アグモン", which is obviously based in V-Jump's mascot "V龍" (V Dragon) drawn by Akira Toriyama.
Literally it would just be "V Dragon Agumon", but the furigana for "V龍" is "ブイロン", which would be "V-Long", named after Dragon Ball's Shen Long.

I'm enjoying the Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Demo. Doesn't look like it has furigana but since there is some voice acting, I think it would be good for learning Japanese.

I think instead we should normalize English Furigana

Loc team, I am on my hands and knees begging you to stop this. #Bowers3rd

ɪŋglɪʃ kʌd akʃʌliː juːz fʊɹiːgana
English could actually use furigana.

I mean when furigana is used to read a word as a different word. Imagine using furigana as a tone indicator

I usually try to play games that have furigana so I can learn how to pronounce things more easily yeah

Bitches would love furigana

がんばれ同期ちゃん would have been a great manga if it had furigana. I think I knew all the words, but I didn't know how to write them in kanji, so I had to constantly check them, which was quite tedious.

Oh, Apple Books can render Japanese books just fine. (Because, of course they can.) And yes Siri will then read them aloud. But very quickly without pausing so it’s not really very helpful haha

I love the explanatory superscript
English furigana..

At least the furigana make looking up things in a dictionary a bit faster.
January 24, 2026 at 10:49 AM
Oh my god thats Dark Falz Persona with the exact same furigana I see that kanji my ass could recognize it with such low Japanese knowledge

Do note, work for "adults" does NOT help you with Furigana mostly. So I'm kinda fucked at this point in time tho. (SOON tm)

Also she writes "Children's work" which means it's MORE for me even so. Specially as it's with furigana and "easier" to read.

WIN!

So I was reasonably proud of getting through the book pretty fast, compared to the previous one (no furigana) and understanding most of it (i hope) reading it. Then I read the epilogue, a discussion of the book by someone else. And I had to look like every second word lol Always getting humbled lol

Aí eu não tenho certeza. Li em alguns lugares que, como é usado para publicações japonesas, o light seria porque utilizam mais hiragana e katakana e kanjis mais simples (de nível colegial) com furigana. Então seria como se fosse um livro infanto-juvenil.

pros of playing pokemon in jpn: most of the dialogue has furigana so it's not so kanji-evil (ace attorney is so difficult bc of the kanji. sob.)

cons: i don't always know what pokemon they want me to catch. this is a problem when much of the game is "catch this pokemon"

pour ce que ça vaut, ma pote japonaise a l'air de dire la même chose. elle ne connait pas d'autre prononciation pour 宇宙 et sans avoir lu le manga sa première interprétation c'est l'option furigana alternatifs

i do wish more things came with proper subtitles though ;-;

also i wish they put furigana on jp subtitles for non-kids stuff too :')

C'est le titre qui m'a le plus intrigué parmi les annonces faites hier lors du Glénat Manga Live.

Quand Mlle Soso a lu le titre japonais, elle a pas souligné le jeu de mots. Le titre「ありす、宇宙までも」se lirait habituellement "alice, uchû made mo" mais le furigana nous indique une autre lecture⤵️

as it happens, this very article and the broader circumstances around the title were mentioned in these recently-translated recounts from series director Hideo Yoshizawa https://shmuplations.com/ninjagaiden/

I turned off furigana on Lingodeer. Plenty of kanji I can't read yet but still, aaaaaaa progress!
