The name of that Digimon is "V龍アグモン", which is obviously based in V-Jump's mascot "V龍" (V Dragon) drawn by Akira Toriyama.
Literally it would just be "V Dragon Agumon", but the furigana for "V龍" is "ブイロン", which would be "V-Long", named after Dragon Ball's Shen Long.

Oh, Apple Books can render Japanese books just fine. (Because, of course they can.) And yes Siri will then read them aloud. But very quickly without pausing so it’s not really very helpful haha
This is what a Japanese novel looks like. A lot of the Japanese we see online or on TV is left-to-right top-to-bottom. But literature (and newspapers, magazines, anything long form) is written back-to-front, right-to-left, top-down in vertical columns. Manga readers know this if they read non-mirrored (“correct”) translations. The electronic book still keeps a gap in the middle where the pages would fold together. There are tiny “rubi” which are furigana to help pronounce unusual kanji, such as the first name we see here (names can be notoriously hard to read if you don’t already know the person) : Kuboyama Hideji. Here’s a closeup of the ‘rubi’ showing the reading for Kuboyama Hideji. 窪山秀治 breaks down as: 窪 (kubo) - hollow, depression, dip 山 (yama) - mountain 秀 (hide) - excellent, surpass 治 (ji/haru) - govern, heal, reign So maybe he’s “Hideji, from the hollow by the mountain.” (No Japanese person would ever say this, it’s just a struggle to remember kanji sometimes lol.)

So I was reasonably proud of getting through the book pretty fast, compared to the previous one (no furigana) and understanding most of it (i hope) reading it. Then I read the epilogue, a discussion of the book by someone else. And I had to look like every second word lol Always getting humbled lol

Aí eu não tenho certeza. Li em alguns lugares que, como é usado para publicações japonesas, o light seria porque utilizam mais hiragana e katakana e kanjis mais simples (de nível colegial) com furigana. Então seria como se fosse um livro infanto-juvenil.

pros of playing pokemon in jpn: most of the dialogue has furigana so it's not so kanji-evil (ace attorney is so difficult bc of the kanji. sob.)

cons: i don't always know what pokemon they want me to catch. this is a problem when much of the game is "catch this pokemon"

C'est le titre qui m'a le plus intrigué parmi les annonces faites hier lors du Glénat Manga Live.

Quand Mlle Soso a lu le titre japonais, elle a pas souligné le jeu de mots. Le titre「ありす、宇宙までも」se lirait habituellement "alice, uchû made mo" mais le furigana nous indique une autre lecture⤵️

The title of our game at that time, as chosen by the president, was "Ninja Gaiden"—I remember thinking, a side-story to what, exactly?, but the president wasn't one for listening once they'd made a proclamation, so we went with that title, and on the morning that our announcement was published in Famitsu, I received a call from him: "Seeing it in print made me realize that the title doesn't have enough impact, so come up with something else! I'm driving over there (to the development building) now, so think of something before I arrive!" Talk about tough... the president's coming in their Mercedes from the Kanda HQ to the development building in Asukasa near Honjo-Azumabashi, which only gives me about 15 minutes! The first thing that sprung to mind was the kanji for "dragon"—I wanted something that looked powerful, and a kanji with a lot of strokes seemed like it would fit the bill. I immediately ran over to the team and said, "let's say the premise is that the protagonist wields the legendary 'Ryuken (Dragon Sword)' in a battle against a shadowy organization... yeah, and his name's Ryu! Ryu Hayabusa, a ninja who travels alone to America in order to avenge the death of his father... something like that? We'll call it 'Ninja Ryukenden'! All good?" Just as I was about to confirm the decision, the president arrived. When I told him what we'd just came up with, he said, "Good idea! Let's run with that!" and the title was changed then and there. It's surprising what ideas can be produced under desperate circumstances... By the way, the international title is "NINJA外伝", with "外伝" written as kanji and "GAIDEN" rendered as furigana. That was another idea that came down from the president: "Americans love kanji!". From there, I came up with a story concerning a dragon sword and the statue of a demonic god, that involved a shadowy cabal and the CIA.
