About a year ago I finally started reading Japanese books on my own! I am on my third now! Thought it would be a fun idea to document interesting/funny words or phrases I find! Not sure how many that will be. I also might not always get the meaning correct lol Sometimes, it's hard to find it!
Man, such a bummer. I used Liascript before and thought about updating some old projects... but now their page is full of GenAI bullshit -.- If I get around to it, I will replace Liascript in my pages. "Open Educational Resources made Easy and Decentralized…" Fuck off

I hope the people involved in saying yes to this poop their pants violently at the exact most embarrassing time to do so each day :)

They pay us so little in dubbing already & clearly think we aren't worth paying at all yet theyre also bringing in celebs for "name factor"

Performance means nothing
Hey just so you know Amazon decided to give us an AI ENGLISH DUB of Banana Fish instead of actually hiring real voice actors
it is fucking hot garbage

I have no political power so all I can do is keep reminding everyone, particularly those in privileged countries who never have to worry about Visa applications, how horrid the Global Visa system is for poorer countries - in particular any African country. It's just apartheid on a global scale.

I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

Randomly thinking about Pokemon rendering. Still feel Sun/Moon had the best looking 3D style. The outlines and kinda cel shading fits the designs really well. The switch ones just feel so undifferentiated and weirdly mixed between cartoon and realistic. Also don't really like that Fresnel shading...

As always, next time you see a big celebrity at the Crunchyroll anime awards, remind yourself how they can afford to dress the dubbing industry up like it’s the Met Gala when underneath all that it’s actors struggling to make ends meet and translation done by shitty robots they don’t have to pay.
After publishing this article, I've heard from many that CR seems to be using AI to produce dub CCs. Now, thanks to a slip-up CR had with episode 6 dub of The Banished Court Magician, we can say that with 100% certainty: Crunchyroll is using the AI service Ollang.com for its dub closed captions!

Gender-affirming care saves lives
1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

One thing I appreciate about Windows updates is that they first silently and gradually make the system crash and then fail for some other reason. Great design

Late, but I wanted to jump in on this trend. While I love Fieren, I am deeply inspired by how brave this person was! They went for the hard thing, were curious, made us all rejoice and draw together!

It makes me so happy to see folks gain that artistic curiosity!

So go forth! Rooting for you! 💖

Finally finished 100% and all challenges in Hades 2. Only thing missing are buying a few of the animal forms and upgrading the rank... Beautiful art and overall fun gameplay, though I don't like a lot of the weapons. Sadly, the endgame is SUCH a drag. So little variety and it just takes forever...

The "Frieren angle" thing, apart from just being delightful, also completely demolishes the pathetic "AI is democratising art" argument. Someone struggling with a difficult drawing received advice from hundreds of strangers who just wanted to help them improve their art.

Finished my first original light novel in Japanese without furigana! It was also the longest so far, great combination. The writing was also more difficult than the ones I read before. Really improved my reading I think. It was a huge struggle though lol
