Also you don't have to want to be a Swordfighter, even, strictly speaking. I think the best part about this is that your average member ranges between the HEMA equivalent of an MMA fighter to experimental archeologists and linguists. If all you want is to read fightbooks and test out ideas come too

I used the 1467 and later 1459 Hans Talhoffer fightbooks to spice up the sword fights in my fantasy, complete with footwork and going through the guards

Talhoffer had quite a storied life as I found out from the translation of the 1459 book
