I think the best part about this is that your average member ranges between the HEMA equivalent of an MMA fighter to experimental archeologists and linguists. I used the 1467 and later 1459 Hans Talhoffer fightbooks to spice up the sword fights in my fantasy, complete with footwork and going through the guards

Talhoffer had quite a storied life as I found out from the translation of the 1459 book
