Actually, let's play this hypothetical out some more. It's been a long time since I issue spotted for crimlaw issues, but if you conceal the location & ID of a murderer, like, if Noem and DHS refused to comply with providing that information, wouldn't that also make Noem an Accessory After the Fact?

A drum I have beaten a lot since it became evident in the Scottish Independent and #Brexit referendums was that we had insufficient exposure and investigations into #ElectoralCrimes and the penetration of hostile foreign entities in #UKPolitics.

I only recently listened to this extraordinary 10 part podcast - Sergei and the Westminster Spy Ring by @peterjukes.bsky.social and @carolecadwalla.bsky.social . It’s gripping, chilling, and deeply disturbing. The facts of Russian intrusion into UK politics laid bare, in horrifying fashion.
Rory Stewart and Alistair Campbell @alastaircampbell2.bsky.social spell out what needs to happen - the same demand we’ve made for years.

We need a real, independent inquiry 🧵

I'm pretty ignorant of these things, but how does it know what xkcd style looks like if its only source is your crimlaw book?

yeah two things that changed my POV

1. ConLaw was a 2nd semester course for me but it was the first course where I learned that Supreme Court Justices aren't special but are, and have always been, Random People who got politically lucky

2. having a conservative CrimLaw and a liberal ConLaw prof

A 3 yr sentence for rape is pathetic, esp when it is the perp's 3rd conviction. & he has no remorse. So only 8.5 yrs total for 3 sexual offences. & he'll be eligible for parole in 3 yrs. Unbelievable & appalling. #ausLaw #crimLaw www.abc.net.au/news/2025-10...

Practiced teeny bit of crimlaw ages ago. Presuming Comey is notified of GJ, he should be able to report when and who the prosecutor is. The timeliness here is speedy bc SOL.

The people I knew at law school who joined the Federalist Society were the dumbest fucks. Like, one failed CrimLaw and had to be coached that conclusory statements score zero points on law school exams.

She's in real estate now.

Cool. So that guy is just wandering around with a gun, thinking monsters are after him.

I think i remember reading a case in CrimLaw like this.

CrimLaw profs better watch out; you wouldn't believe the amount of "crimes" he doesn't believe in.

And here we see the difference between this and the criminal due process context. Selective and vindictive prosecution claim can be made in CrimLaw to show acting in bad faith, but not here.

I have heard through the crimlaw grapevine that the DC grand jury has already no true billed the sandwich guy case TWICE and that prosecutors are going to try again. This is from someone who very likely has accurate and timely info.

Age verification? In law school they taught me how to Sheperdize with paper hard copies and to make sure I looked at the pocket parts . . . and I had to do that for a few years in practice too.

Like this is CrimLaw 101, basic I-watched-one-episode-of-SVU stuff. This is just a more spooky way of suggesting Trump would give Maxwell immunity. Why on earth would he do that? He wants her to never testify at all.

So the need to draw an analogy to a crimlaw concept like self-defense is already a dodge; it's an admission you need special treatment.

But Israel's actions under Netanyahu don't even meet a self-defense standard.

I found law school dreadful & bailed at the 2-yr mark.

(Was at Wash U. Loved ConLaw*, CrimLaw, CrimPro, Evid** & such; but I couldn't bring myself - at that point in life - to give a rat's ass about Contracts, Property, Trusts & Estates, etc.)
