Gee if only we had some leverage with GM Canada, like I don't know maybe some shares . Oh right, Heir Harper sold the GM shares at a loss so that he could claim he balanced the budget, Because selling an asset which still has monies owing against it at a loss is what all households do to balance

Excellent point!

This whole thread also reminds me of Republicans in 1993 who universally opposed the Clinton tax increases and said they would wreck the economy. Then they pretended that the "balanced budget" that they supposedly cared about was because of their spending discipline.

a genius move. people forget that starbucks prices aren't even 'budget' anymore: they’re premium prices for commodity-grade over-roasting. When you realize a local specialty shop gives you a balanced, single-origin shot for the same price (or less), you can never go back.

Important to note that this is a continuation of the 2025 outbreak that hit Texas hard. This is a serious public health disaster.

We failed to end measles. It's the 21st Century. Remember Y2k? We had Measles on the ropes that year. We also had a near balanced Federal budget. Good times.

s it balanced? Yes, the budget is currently projected to be balanced for 2026, thanks to a mix of state aid, rising ridership, and "one-time" funds like casino licensing fees.

Where the money goes: * Labor: About 62% ($12.9 billion) goes to paying the 75,000+ employees.

You know that you live in the Twilight Zone when the US is a bankrupt warmongering police state and Americans look you in the eye and say that the USA is a peaceful and free country with a balanced budget.
January 28, 2026 at 12:04 PM
If the US was free, peaceful, had a booming economy, had a balanced budget, had sound money, had safe streets, had no minimum wage, and taxes imposed by all levels of government took less than 10% of our income in the past, are Americans happier now that the USA is a police state, at war, has a […]

We’re covering a lot in today’s Cabinet meeting, including agreeing a balanced budget for 2026/27. This is despite reduced government funding and rising costs. The budget will then be taken to the Full Council meeting next week for approval.

For a man who has probably never pumped gas or grocery shopped for his family or spent time on a family farm or balanced a household budget, he is less than an expert or even knowledgeable about such things. Maybe he can stick to promoting Melania’s movie.

It is all being paid for by our children and grandchildren. The budget will never be balanced under a GOP administration.

This is why, even "without the votes" Democrats need to push relentlessly for accountability

When Dems are in charge the Gang Of Pedophiles make up endless lies about "Fiscal responsibility" and "balanced budget" to argue nonsense rhetoric they don't believe

Dems can push to release files & eject!
The killing of Alex Pretti and the grotesque lying was an overreach by the administration. They've paid a price and had to pull back a bit. But it's when there's some disarray that the democratic opposition needs to intensify the offensive, and turn a marginal tactical success into a major victory.

I honestly don't understand the hostility the Greens get hit with. They're the only people-first party that hasn't been captured by capital. And they produce an alternative, balanced budget every year. And yet, fucking crickets from the media.

The top marginal tax rate in the 50s was 91%. We built the interstate highway system, helped veterans buy homes and go to college and more all with a balanced budget. We were in this together, the wealthy and everyone else doing our part for a better America. When did we start tolerating greed?
