this merits serious resistance. it yields ground to centrists when left critics throw their hands up at stuff like this. Mamdani is probably the most prominent politician who's actually accountable to his left flank
“Homeless encampment sweeps are ineffective, they are costly and they don’t actually solve the problem of homeless,” said Jeremy Saunders, an executive director of VOCAL-NY.

...headline inflation (which supports lower yields) is offset by considerations calling for higher yields (including robust GDP growth, January’s jobs beat, large deficits, higher oil prices, and less resilient foreign demand)
Standard valuation models also struggle to justify a 4% yield.

The Puzzle of US Yields
After dipping to 4.01% earlier this morning, the yield on the 10-year US government bond is currently hovering around 4.03%—a level that seems disconnected from both fundamentals and valuations.
From a fundamental perspective, last week’s softer-than-expected ...

[COMMENTARY]

A new agricultural shift is underway, moving from chemical dependence back toward biology-based farming.

An op-ed argues the current model has boosted yields but harmed soils, biodiversity and livelihoods, urging regeneration as the only viable path forward.

From chemistry to regeneration: Agriculture’s next transformation has begun (commentary)

French agrivoltaics trials show crops under solar panels had up to 18% higher yields, far fewer heat-stress days, cooler soils, and better animal welfare — while generating clean power. This is a win-win governments should scale now.

There is zero evidence that higher yields spare land. Over the past century increased chemical use and agricultural expansion have occurred simultaneously because demand keeps rising. Efficiency increases capacity, but outcomes are what matter.
Sure, and when more regenerative approaches produce high yields (I reported examples in my book) they can help us eat less of the earth. But most arguments for chemical-free ag just handwave away land use, or just assume the world will stop eating meat or wasting food. They ignore context and scale.
