Shout out to last week's Shinobi Undercover Chap 40. Our hero is a great ninja but terrible socially. We are in the middle of a big battle, and he's being taunted. We're expecting to see a killer new move. Instead, our hero leveled up by learning how not to get mentally overwhelmed. #WeReadComics

Lovely looking book. Can't wait to dive in.

It's THICK.

Do you have any tips for holding this while reading it? An exercise regimen or a custom stand, perhaps?

#WeReadComics and One World Under Doom (Marvel, 2025) by @ryannorth.ca is just great. Really, really great.

Still working through the first Claremont X omnibus and my immediate takeaway is surprise at just how fast he nailed the characters and started building them out and how well he balances that old-school Stan era wordiness with a lot of space left for the art to speak for itself #WeReadComics

Slow day in the bookshop has meant plenty of time to read: Minor Arcana vol 1 by Jeff Lemire; Superman: Lost, by Christopher Priest; Judge Dredd: Better World by Rob Williams & Arthur Wyatt.
Minor Arcana is the best of these three. Might just subscribe to it as an ongoing.

I had a hankering for some 90's comics when a colleague reminded me of these gems, and they were delivered fresh today. Both waves of Amalgam Comics from '96 & '97. Lobo The Duck really frags.

This was a light week for me, but a book I want to spotlight this week is Uncanny X-Men #13. @gailsimone.bsky.social and @davidmarquez.bsky.social knock it out of the park with a spooky little yarn that’s going to have consequences for the book’s future.

Espetacular #WeReadComics!

Mark Waid and Dan Mora are firing on all cylinders, and this sets up a six-part crossover with Batman/Superman: World’s Finest that I can’t wait to read.

Free for All is a 56-page graphic novella from Patrick Horvath, creator of Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees. That was a terrific read, so I had to pick up this book.

Mad Cave bring us a new series called Far Down Below by Chris Condon and Gege Schall.

It starts out in 1865 with three scientists/explorers with a huge boring “ship” breaking through ground to what they call the Hollow Earth. Unfortunately for them, they are not…

Doom’s Division—the rebranding of Tiger Division under the new Doom government—is off to an okay start. It wasn’t as good as their recent mini-series, but it did a decent job of introducing the characters and setting up the premise. It seems that Sunfire is…

Black Canary: Best of the Best #5 continues the excitement of the previous four issues, interspersing the fight and the training and hospital moments between our two Canaries. I particularly like how they used the fight commentary with the training sessions.

One of the clerks at my LCS recommended Bitter Root: The Next Movement to me, assuring me I did not need to have read the previous series to enjoy it.

He was right!

I haven’t been reading Batman lately—too many comics, too little time—but couldn’t resist jumping in for the Hush story.

Jeph Loeb did a great job of setting the stage for the story, revisiting Batman’s first encounter with the Joker and the Joker’s attempt to…

Finally read the graphic novel Galaxy: The Prettiest Star.

Within the first two pages, I knew how excellent and special it was. I became so engrossed in the story of Taylor and the family (including a talking dog!) that I couldn’t put the book down.

…very sketchy. So that is another thing not in the series’ favor.

Barstow is not going on the pull list when I’m trying to watch how many titles are on it. If there is ever a deep sale, I might pick it up to see what happens.

It’s handled really well, and the Nigerian culture references add depth to the plot. The art adds to the storytelling, with good use (and absence in places) of color.

Will definitely be picking up Bronze Faces #3.

I don’t know what I was expecting Bug Wars to be, but probably some story about insects fighting.

Well, that is what it turned out to be, but it has another level that elevates it for me. Should have trusted that Jason Aaron was going to concoct a rich story.

Several people have praised FML, and I spied it on the “old” wall of my LCS when picking up my new #comics, so thought I would give it a try.

I have no idea of what Kelly Sue DeConnick and David Lopez are doing, but I definitely want more!

The second issue I picked up today—after The Deviant—was Absolute Flash #1.

Wally West has long been one of my favorite characters. Picking up Barry’s mantle, marrying Linda, having kids, there has always been something very real, endearing, and special about him.
