I’m David Harth. I’m old and I love comics. I’ve written for CBR and now write for ComicBook.com. I also have a Substack, Crusty Old Fan. I was main character of Comics Twitter one time and AnneLovesComics’ fans spent two days sending me death threats.

You know, I’ve never knew how to farm engagement like a lot of the more popular online comic personalities. Like, I look at what they do to build their little parasocial fiefdoms, and I just don’t want to bother. Like, I’m not posting page after page of a book and making fun of it.
@tombrevoort.bsky.social, there’s something I’m wondering after reading the X-Men United article.

Are you the one that comes up with the hero vs hero stuff or is it the writers?

I’ve been working industry adjacent for a while now and I’ve realized that at Marvel, you guys are the ones in charge 1/

So, the other day, I said I had a theory about the X-books and Cap, Thor, and Iron Man.

Basically, Tom Brevoort has never showed any esteem for the X-Men, so making him the editor of the line was a way to throttle the X-Men’s popularity. The line isn’t good. Let’s be real. I love Uncanny, 1/

So, while I’m not sold on it per se, Age of Revelation is turning out to be more interesting than it seemed like it was going to be. It’s not brilliant and it can’t shone the best parts of the AoA’s shoes, but the second issues of stuff that I’ve read is better than the first. I still don’t think 1/

I wrote something about Zdarsky’s Cap being the best Cap ever and issue five kind of proves that in the most painful way.

Goddamn, Zdarsky can’t miss at Marvel.

I obviously read it before all of you thanks to my comic journalist powers, but if you’re wondering whether Batman/Deadpool is better than Deadpool/Batman, the answer is a million times yes.

I mean one was written by Zeb Wells, the other by Grant Morrison. One is obviously going to be better.

@tombrevoort.bsky.social, my name is David Harth and I write for ComicBook. I have been writing professionally about comics for six years now. I have written reviews, news, features, and listicles. Editors have told me I have a “fan base” or consistent readers. So, I’m not some geek off the street

Wow, Marvel is getting bodied this NYCC.

DC ate with DC K.O. #1, folks.

Fantastic writing, fantastic art, and a compelling event that I want them to hook into my vein. @ssnyder1835.bsky.social, @javifernandez.bsky.social, and @xermanico.bsky.social are dropping something special on that ass.

Everyone in Hollywood was convinced KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN would be the biggest flop of 1984. So how did this little film about a queer window dresser and Marxist revolutionary prove them all wrong? My new video is available now:
Kiss of the Spider Woman: Pleasure & purpose in prison
Kiss of the Spider Woman was one of the biggest surprise hits of its time -- in part because its heroes are a Marxist revolutionary and a queer window dresser, at a time when the US was gripped by…

I don’t know about anyone else, but since I have daughters, I buy twice the girl superhero books as I used to. Like, I get them all for myself and then I usually buy an extra copy for my daughters.

I guess children do change your comic buying habits.

Finally picked this up from the LCS. The second issue is better condition than the first, but it doesn’t matter either way, because now I own “Parable”.

@therightram.bsky.social, Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma was magnificent. That last issue was everything I needed right now. Thank you once again for such a transcendent work.

Some dude on Facebook is trying to sell a bunch of ‘90s Spider-Man comics for 25 grand and… I can’t even with that.

Avengers & X-Men: AXIS came out in 2014. Original Sin? 2014. Secret Wars? 2015.

That’s insane.

I feel like the X-office is trying to get Wolverine cancelled.

I read the whole of DIE yesterday. Jesus Christ, I forgot how much @kierongillen.bsky.social and Stephanie Han (I’m not sure if she’s on BlueSky) cooked on that one. I’m now ready for the sequel.

So… am I wrong about thinking Age of Revelation is going to be ass?

Marvel never gets these AoA replays right. I hope I’m wrong but the writer corps they have, I don’t have a lot of faith. Gail and Murewa can only do so much.

So, after my thumb through of Wolverine #11, I gave it a read after I finished some work and it’s decent, but it’s only decent because it’s a long fight.

Ahmed has written a good comic, but I just don’t know if he’s the guy you want to do a story like this. I don’t know. I wish I liked this book.

After thumbing through the newest issue of Wolverine, I’m wondering exactly what the hell is Marvel doing with the character?

I’m not spoiling anything, but Jesus, this is a terrible comic. This book didn’t have much going for it to begin with and they’re making it worse.

So, I finally read Marvel AXIS - I wasn’t working when it came out and when I was working I heard how legendarily bad it was, so I didn’t buy it.

It’s… certainly a comic I’ve read. I don’t hate it. I do think Remender was trolling a bit because he was leaving Marvel, though. I kind of like it.

@philjimeneznyc.bsky.social I just read the Titans Annual and it made me cry like a baby. That was a beautiful comic and I want to thank you for it.

So anyway, last week I bought all of Uncanny Avengers (Vol. 1) for like fifty bucks (in the last month, I’ve bought all of the Avengers books that launched in Marvel NOW), and it made me want to order AXIS.

So I did.

I’m hoping what I’ve read about it is wrong and I like it.

Looking at Hickman’s Avengers/New Avengers, they really gave him every great artists that worked at Marvel at the time, other than Cassaday, Acuna, Bachalo, Pacheco, McNiven, and Bradshaw (Silvestri, too, I guess).

Like goddamn.
