I’m David Harth. I’m old and I love comics. I’ve written for CBR and now write for ComicBook.com. I also have a Substack, Crusty Old Fan. I was main character of Comics Twitter one time and AnneLovesComics’ fans spent two days sending me death threats.
Finally picked this up from the LCS. The second issue is better condition than the first, but it doesn’t matter either way, because now I own “Parable”.

This is the comic that has caused all of this Savage Land Rogue hullabaloo? I get it for like a dollar.

Any time I see ‘90s X-Men stuff, I buy it. Squadron Supreme #1? Fucking duh. And I just really like Utopia.

I’m so happy to find that X-Men Omega. Mine is long gone, but now it’s back.

The Howlett Estate was turned into a mall. It was established in Paul Cornell’s Wolverine run. Sabretooth lured Wolverine there when he was doing the Madripoor crime lord thing with Mystique and Lord Deathstrike.

I wasn’t sure last month, but then I went and grabbed my trade.

WicDiv re-read night one. I’ve never read @kierongillen.bsky.social and @mckelvie.bsky.social’s masterpiece in a row like this in ages, so let’s give it a whirl.

So, I’m not having the best… life lately. Things are all pain and hopelessness again. It is what it is. Anyway, I was at the comic store and I found this - The Last Will and Testament of the DC Universe. It came out around Final Crisis, and it’s by Brad Meltzer, Adam Kubert, and Joe Kubert.

Post the best panel of X-Men you can think of right now.

If you can find these issues, do it. This is such a good mini series. Andy and Adam Kubert drew it and did the color art respectively and it’s gorgeous. It’s an amazing comic.

My grandfather worked at the Bronx Zoo and he would take my Dad there while my Dad was young. Grandpa wasn’t a zoologist or anything, he was just general staff. My Dad fell in love with primates, and later in life, he bought some chimps. Back then, you could get a private zoo license, so he did.

So… apparently comic creators aren’t fans of comics. Huh. Weird that all of the ones I’ve talked to or read about are all fans.

Just read these. All great.

I forgot how great early ‘90s Jim Lee X-Men art was. Just breathtaking.

I’ve been catching up on @therightram.bsky.social and Evan Cagle’s New Gods (I got 3 and 4 and had to hunt down 1 and 2), so I just read the page and yes. This is the Big Barda I always wanted.

I try not to be thirsty, but look at this.

I didn’t make this, I found it on Reddit. It’s fucking brilliant.

This was a light week for me, but a book I want to spotlight this week is Uncanny X-Men #13. @gailsimone.bsky.social and @davidmarquez.bsky.social knock it out of the park with a spooky little yarn that’s going to have consequences for the book’s future.

This is my latest non-new comic purchase. Wolverine (Vol. 1) #1-4 has long been a series I’ve wanted to own. I’m rebuilding my Wolverine collection and have purchased many of my favorites. These four are one of my big grails. I love them so.

Share one book that changed your life and inspired you.

For me, that’s The Invisibles, by Grant Morrison and a host of the best artists in comics. It was weird, it was wild, and it opened my mind to things I never would have encountered otherwise.

Post something/anything
#LegionOfSuperheroes

While I love Five Years Later, the reboot, the Threeboot, and even the Bendis Legion, I think the classic pre-Crisis Legion is the best.

Is Wolverine (Vol. 2) #10 my favorite comic ever?

Probably. That or The Multiversity: Pax Americana.

There’s something about Claremont’s prose lettered by Ken Bruznick gave it a jagged feeling, combined with the gorgeous work of John Buscema, @bsienk.bsky.social, and Mike Rockwitz.

I basically wrote this exact article and brought this point in several articles for ComicBook.

Seeing as @cbr.bsky.social blacklisted me after they fired me, it’s weird they’re stealing my ideas. Good ol’ Jon Arvedon didn’t want to respect me, but he sure stole my ideas.
