I only realised/found out today that Tchaikovsky's first name is Peter.

I never had him down as a Pete.

A bit of escapism from Alexandra Dariescu for her QEH recital this Thursday: music on the theme of childhood, and excerpts from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker. My notes here:

Good Evening, Bluesky Family & Friends

This SNOW is keeping everything gleaming WHITE, and I won't know when the sun actually sets. So, I'm going to pretend. Let's Pretend it's Christmas, and tonight's music is Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet from 1892:

Dr Who - obviously. 😃

But also Ollery "The Butcher", the field surgeon and leader of the field hospital in Adrian Tchaikovsky's House of Open Wounds. He serves as a brilliant focal point for the grimdark action of that book.

In leisure reading, I'm about half way through Adrian Tchaikovsky's House of Open Wounds. I'm enjoying it. It doesn't have the same sense of city-wide scope of the original, but because it focuses primarily on the characters in the irregular med hospital, it gives a sense of comfortable confinement

I remain enthralled by Adrian Tchaikovsky's Tyrant Philosophers series. the first book was my favorite read of last year and i'm currently on book two. very of-the-moment exploration of revolution, with head-exploding fantasy elements.

In 1892, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker premiered in St. Petersburg. Initially met with mixed reviews, it later became one of the most performed ballets ever, shaping how generations experience classical music and holiday culture. #MusicHistory

Also… we found this woman in Baldur’s Gate who we met in the Underdark. We thought it’d be so funny to blow up the Bibberbang Grotto to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. We didn’t realise the dead body in the middle was 1. Her abusive husband 2. Carrying a rare mushroom she needed. OOPS.

Would've blown up the YT House while Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture played on the city speakers.

I'll give them this much: A Night at the Movies is more original than the typical Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake on a continuous loop.

ngl... this book in the series blindsided me and I got whiplash. does show Tchaikovsky's range tho (as if we didn't know already)
