I have reached out to Arlington County in the past asking them to change the name to Syphax County in honor of the Syphax family. At least put it on the ballot. A no go so far.

Ok! So this is part of the Quander and Syphax efforts. Two of the earliest slave descendants were black Carters that were both enslaved and free. Alot of African history. #georgewashington #geneology #mtvernon

Ok! So this is part of the Quander and Syphax efforts. Two of the earliest slave descendants were black Carters that were both enslaved and free. Alot of African American families fought for a long time to be recognized as either enslaved or descendants of the Washingtons. Very cool.

That's what I'm seeing. I went to school with Craig Syphax, the guy who runs it. I was going to go by there. Been planning on going for a few years. It's time, unless it's closed.
