Took adult son to doc this am. Reminded him about cost of care w/out my work ins, which he ages out of at end of month. So far still too little income for Medicaid, too much Soonercare, can't even contact Soonercare, private too $$$

He is currently not talking to me bc he is so upset.

Have had constant headache since yesterday; not taking care of myself at all bc
MY KID WILL HAVE NO HEALTHCARE
Doesn't make enough for fed subsidy through healthcare dot gov! Go to Soonercare! Oh, but since you don't want 0 income to be homeless/he lives w u, YOU make 2 much 4 Soonercare. Sorry!
January 28, 2026 at 8:52 PM
Still trying to insure my adult son aging off work insurance
Makes $0 so doesn't qualify for fed Medicaid subsidy. They say go to SoonerCare.
SCare doesn't use his income. Uses OURS bc he lives w us (we don't want him homeless.) DENIED bc we make too much.
Can't afford private plans.
NO HEALTH CARE.

Red tape is not neutral.

H.R. 1 would add barriers to coverage that lead to delayed care, higher costs, and increased strain on Oklahoma hospitals — especially in rural areas.

I've gained 20 lbs
And tonight I completely crashed (several nights not sleeping, extreme stress) bc I don't understand ACA/Soonercare. Signed kid up for acct and plugged in guess info thinking could change - just wanted to see if elig, plan costs. Now it's official application? And no deets I need!
January 7, 2026 at 4:11 AM
I plugged son's info into healthcare dot gov (ACA!) Unemployed adult. 26. 0 income. Cheapest rate quoted was 10,000 deductible at 291/mo. Most plans 330-450. How is an unemployed adult to pay?
Why is OUR income required for soonercare (medicare) just bc he's unemployed & we don't want him homeless?
January 3, 2026 at 3:08 AM
Already looked into soonercare we make too much considering he lives w us (but is unemployed we totally support him)
January 2, 2026 at 2:57 PM
Lol, i dont blame you, for multiple reasons we're so awesome, but for healthcare it would be better for you to work on it in your state. There may be someone working on it. Even if it's red, it could still pass. Guess how many Oklahomans know parts of SoonerCare came from Obamacare? #marketing 😉

You missed OK in Top 10 for STD's (lack of free treatment), reduction in public health (90's budget cuts), Planned Parenthood, 0 'free clinics'. "Soonercare" homeless can't have.
No 'Valid' ID can't purchase smokes, drinks, or vote.

Only fourteen states call it “Medicaid.” The majority of Medicaid-funded programs avoid the stigmatizing label “Medicaid,” instead branding themselves Health Net, Health Link, FamilyCare and the like. Most insureds have no idea they get Medicaid.

It’s like ACA enrollees who say they hate Obamacare.

Here in Oklahoma, I think many people don't realize that Soonercare is Medicaid.
It's not like we didn't warn them, it was all in the Project 2025 manifest we posted time and time again... #FAFO

can confirm: had to use soonercare at one point and it was real boon to my health at the time
December 21, 2025 at 5:05 PM
I've tried quite a few meds before Soonercare would let me on it.
December 21, 2025 at 10:12 AM
At least SoonerCare covers all but $4 of each infusion.
December 7, 2025 at 1:21 AM
also fuсk the university of oklahoma they have proven to be extremely cowardly when it comes to standing up for transgender sooners. both with this “scandal” and with soonercare. continuing to cave to the worst parts of society

I didn't qualify for Soonercare/Medicaid for Dec 2025, when I have to foot the bill, but I would for 2026 so long as I remain unemployed--and also so long as I don't want to see my cardiologist nor my psychiatrist every 3 months because my sanity meds require quarterly visits. Fun times!

Work requirements don’t boost employment — they boost bureaucracy.

People get caught in system errors, verification failures, and deadlines that working families can’t meet.

When coverage is on the line, red tape has real consequences.

One missed paycheck shouldn’t be enough to push a family into crisis — but for thousands of Oklahomans, it is.
The shutdown made clear just how fragile our economy really is.

I FUCKING HATE OKLAHOMA! I found out because I'm on SoonerCare Choice (Medicaid) and not on SoonerCare that my doctor can't refer me to a bone specialist. I have to change plans to SoonerCare, find a PHP that accepts SoonerCare Choice, or accept the abnormalities that occur from a misaligned wrist.

I don’t have WELFARE insurance like those parasites, I have DenaliCare, Medi-Cal, Husky Health, Hoosier Healthwise, SoonerCare etc lmfao.

Many states rename their Medicaid programs to reflect a more local identity.
For example:
Husky Health – Connecticut
BadgerCare Plus – Wisconsin
SoonerCare – Oklahoma
Medi-Cal – California
MassHealth – Massachusetts
NJ FamilyCare – New Jersey

We have the BEST healthcare on the planet! I've been bounced around for THREE weeks after I fractured my wrist and was FINALLY told I need to look for an orthopedic specialist within the SoonerCare (Oklahoma Medicaid) network MYSELF! With luck because of the shutdown, I won't be able to see one--

"As many as 171,000 Oklahomans could lose SoonerCare coverage due to the bill’s provisions, according to data from independent health policy group KFF."

53% of the 1 million Oklahomans enrolled in SoonerCare are children.
