Solving chess positions eg from Reinfeld. When I taught chess, they began with one white wins, one black wins, from a piece of paper identifying starting position. They set them up and solved them. Or if they set up position from book, they say pawns on a4, b4, and c6 while setting them up.

One of my pick-ups from the show were these excellent Silent Screamers figures! Made by Mezco, I've beem eyeing them for a while. I've had Maria (Metropolis) from the line for over a decade now, I just never got these. So glad I have them now. Love how stylized they are.
The two Nosferatu characters - Orlok and Reinfeld—on the base the clicks together from each of them. Cesare and Caligari from the Cabinet of Doctor Caligari. Flat backdrops and strange angles makes an attempt to match the unnerving off-kilter nature of the movie's visuals.

Dad taught me to play about 1967, when I was 8, 5 years before the Fischer boom. I remember Reinfeld books as full of those "it will never happen" opening tricks, then I surprised myself to remember one of them to win a game as a teen.
