The irony here is that Phillip Holmes died at the age of 35 at the start of WWII in 1942. He was killed in a mid-air collision after joining the Royal Canadian Air Force.

In 1936, Bishop was made an Honorary Air Vice Marshall. In that position, he advocated for an expansion of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
In 1940, he became Director of Recruiting for the RCAF and played a critical role in the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.

Seems pretty pertinent to me for journalists to start mentioning that this is 2021 analysis: "the Royal Canadian Air Force has argued the F-35 is superior to the Saab Gripen."

Calculus from RCAF likely differs in 2026 since the vendor country is Russia-compromised and behaving like an enemy nation.

I made these “student” hats for Capilano University’s fall production of the Government Inspector. They are a simplified clone of the RCAF garrison cap. They were worn on stage for a few minutes 😂 but they fit the actors perfectly, and marks the first time I made something for someone else to wear!

On Feb. 1, 1968, the Canadian Forces Reorganization Act combined the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army and Royal Canadian Air Force into the unified Canadian Armed Forces.
The move was deeply unpopular among veterans.

The Shearwater Aviation Museum is located across the water from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and next to 12 Wing Shearwater, the centre of naval aviation in Canada and home of the RCAF’s maritime helicopter community.

The road-side sign for the entrance of 12 Wing Shearwater – a fighter jet wing mounted so it is vertical to the ground. The signs says “Welcome to 12 12 Wing Shearwater” in English and French, and then has the words “WINGS FOR THE FLEET” in capitals. At either end of the wing are the badges of 12 Wing (a seagull flying over water within a gilded round frame topped by a crown) and of the Royal Canadian Air Force (a roundel with a thick dark blue outer rim bordering a white centre with a red maple leaf).

The versatile Fairey Swordfish biplane (aka the “Stringbag”) saw naval service throughout WW2 and was used by the Royal Canadian Navy / Air Force from 1943. The first allied aircraft to carry radar, it was used as a convoy escort, as well as a torpedo and bombing attack aircraft.
