I saw a chart about commitment to AI, and unsurprisingly the US was far in the lead, and it really drove home an key emotion driving the grift.

The *idea* of the U.S. as number one is so powerful that we have effectively made up a category we can be number one in, and it MUST BE TRUE.

I’d wish they would ask are you saying anti fascist are the number one threat to America right now? Because that sounds like you are for fascism

This is frustratingly true with government services as well. Last year CVS gave me a fraudulent phone number to Tricare that was one number off from the real number. And a Social Security office in Queens was handing out flyers with a scam phone number.
I don't know the details here, but Google ads and organic results are gamed by scammers who want to grab people looking for customer service numbers.

Truly you cannot trust a phone number that pops up from a Google search. Just don't.

Yes, it’s one they handpicked, and IIRC is actually a judge in management who only hears a small number of cases. It’s so flagrantly corrupt and a perversion of due process you almost have to laugh; then go off and file a bar complaint against the judge for violating ethics rules.
Isn't it a completely different immigration judge than the one from years earlier? How can they claim a "scriveners error" from someone else's order?

i am the number one Kione Monax wanter
yeah but she would also be really angry and i'd egg her on and then she would snap and beat me up about it and the whole time she'd be telling me "YOU LOST. YOU LOST. YOU LOST." and despite how pathetic it is i would still be completely at her mercy and it'd be really really hot that i lost

Cheers to @brianboone.bsky.social and @vulture.com for including my book, John Candy: A Life In Comedy, on your Best Comedy Books of 2025. Is that a number one beside it? Further thanks for kindly noting my book’s celebration of humanity and the empathy of comedy.

"But what if I have to gun it in an emergency?" is one of those knee-jerk responses which evaporates when you consider the number of times you've had to do that on a residential street, vs the number of times you've had to slam on the brakes.
My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)
There is no possible justification for limiting e-bikes to 15mph but not cars.

We are run by a clown car of stupidity. Number one question - what dos Antifa stand for? The fumbling on the questions regarding their self proclaimed number 1 threat is a great example of what is wrong with this regime. They don’t know what they are doing.
Trump official can’t answer basic questions despite labeling Antifa as the primary threat to America

You don’t see this every day.

Ohio’s sitting Republican Governor tells the media that the number one thing his own party is attacking the Democratic gubernatorial candidate (Amy Acton) on was HIS decisionmaking.

The numbers say it all. Every one of the UK’s top 10 most popular stations is in London, with many powered by the success of the Elizabeth line.

Proof that when you build world class rail, people choose it.
